I wouldn't want to watch a team that destroyed my favorite team either.

Oh yeah, I hope you enjoy watching

Well there are few sports I refuse to watch. The only two that stand out though are the Little League World Series and women's basketball.

There is something about the rules that Little League uses that bothers me (no leading off, pitching only from a full wind-up, the uber tech bats and tiny fields to up the homerun totals).

I watch womens sports, but sadly I am a pig and only do so if the women are attractive.

There are quite a few sports I don't follow closely but I will watch pretty much anything.

Why does all that bother you?

(And I don't believe there is a rule that you have to pitch from a wind-up. Also, the small fields aren't necessarily there to bring the home run total up but rather to keep the doubles and triples down because the players are smaller and not as fast as older players, therefore they can't cover as much ground and a full size field would lead to a lot of extra base hits.)

Do you have to pitch from the wind-up? No, but if base runners do not lead off then what is the incentive to learn how to hold a runner and pitch from the stretch. It takes a fundemental part of the game completely out of play. By the time kids are in middle school/junior high they should be playing by all the rules. (might has well have the coaches pitch or play t-ball) Youth league baseball is great, but the thought that the Little League WS is the be all end all of youth baseball is absolutely incorrect.

I have no problem with smaller field diminsions for youth league games but by comparison the field used for the little league WS is 80 feet shorter to center field than the ones I played on as an 11-12 year old. That combined with 60 foot base paths allows the boys who started puberty early a huge advantage over the prepubesent ones. I played in a competetive league but homeruns were something to be celebrated as they only occurred occassionally (not multiple times a game as is routinely seen in the LLWS).

Ok now for a slightly off topic rant...As for the bats (this goes for other youth leagues, high school and college as well) I am surprised that someone has not yet been killed on television by a batted ball. The increase in ball speed seen with today's composit bats is incredible and the composite construction encourages bat rolling and shaving. In addition the continued evolution of bat technology has produced an uneven playing field in steep favor of the teams that can afford the $400 bats.

Again I have no problem with youth baseball. In fact I love it. I just believe that there are better brands of youth ball out there and that ESPN has propigated LLWS as the be all end all.
