I can't watch Rugby. I've tried but it just bores me to tears. In Australia we are essentially divided by state lines as to which code of football we grow up with and I was born in Victoria, so I'm Australian Rules all the way.

Also motor sport just doesn't do it for me. I guess I can understand the appeal as my father in law watches every Grand Prix religiously but for me I just find it dull.

Re: Sports you just can't stand to watch

NBA Basketball - I haven't watched a complete quarter of an NBA basketball game in about 8 years. I have watched the end of a couple games here and there, but for the most part, I have no desire to watch it.

        Car Racing - Just no.

Golf - I'll watch all 4 majors if I'm by a TV, but many weekends during the spring/summer/fall I'm out actually playing golf - been playing since I was 6 years old.

But I have weird tastes when it comes to sports according to a vast majority of Americans. I could watch any two teams play soccer or hockey live at any time.

        EDIT:
Forgot to mention Boxing/MMA. I know there's strategy involved, and as a late-blooming soccer fan I am wary about simply writing off a sport just because I don't understand it. But it just doesn't do it for me. Especially MMA, I can sometimes watch a big boxing match, but the sport undermines itself by making me pay to see its best events.

I'm surprised so many people can't watch MMA. A match is only 25 minutes at the most, and it's one of the purest forms of sport around (a foot race being the only thing more pure). They're some of the most physically fit athletes in the world as well.

Wrestling- the real and the fake
That seems to be the general consensus with mixed martial arts: too much rolling around on the ground. I guess you have to know how difficult it is to work on the ground to really appreciate it. I never wrestled competitively, but I've screwed around with some of my friends who wrestled in High School and they just kick my ***. It's really difficult and really technical when the fight gets to the ground. The slightest movement and the smallest leverage can completely change the fight.

I know it takes immense athleticism (agility, balance, etc.), but it's SO monotonous. The ball just goes back and forth and back and forth. Every "point" seems almost exactly the same.

Beating the holy hell out of each other isn't a pure sport, it is a felony if not inside a ring where you consent to someone beating the hell out of you.

Baseball, basketball, golf, curling, darts, pool, bowling, I'm sure there are others. I'm a hockey and football fan. I'd watch baseball and basketball live, I like playing baseball and golf.

This is my reasoning for not liking it as well as the fact that the ground and pound guys bore the crap out of me.

I love live hockey, but it has never translated as a television sport for me.

I don't get all the MMA hate either. Honestly, MMA is my second favorite sport only behind football. And it even gives football a run for it's money as far as I'm concerned.

Bowling is the one I cannot get into at all. Soccer and hockey I can't watch either unless it's the World Cup or Olympics. The Stanley Cup finals I can watch near the end of the games, but that's it.

                          You clearly missed my point.

I mean there are no extra apparatuses: no ball, no helmet, no car, no stick/bat, no physical goal (as in a basket or net), not many rules (and most of those in place are there to protect the fighters). It's just two guys in ring/octagon... may the best man win. Sure, there are judges, but the right guy wins 19/20 times.

And plenty of sports would result in felonies/broken laws outside of their settings, so I really don't understand that argument.

Also, the training, strategy and athleticism in these bouts is outrageous. I'm sorry you think it's simply two guys beating the hell out of each other.

Auto racing, boxing, MMA, women's sports aside from tennis, 95% of all Olympic sports when they take place outside of the Olympics. Entertainment-wise, I have no problem with college football, but I have limited interest in judged sports, so I usually pass.

I would argue that that is not the object of the sport of boxing. Boxing takes more cardio conditioning than most sports and Floyd Mayweather Jr. has proven that being one of the best has little to do with the ability to beat someone senseless.
