Do you consider taking supplements "cheating" ?

I'm on 8 months into my fitness...I've had massive gains and I lost close to 60lbs. Once I lost my weight I began the building process. In the last couple of weeks I have been at the gym for probably 2 hours a day on average after hellacious days at work. I recently started to take Mass Peak (High calorie/protein protein shake) along with Jack3d and a creatine Elixir. I have gained almost 10lbs in muscle...And I am starting to look kinda freakishly big. These two weeks has made me question if supplements are a cheap way to build the physique I want, because the creatine obviously puts water in the muscles making them appear "bigger"
But in every rep I do in strength training the past two weeks...I can lift more and lift longer...I know it's because the supplements. What do you find cheating? GH? HGH? Even some supplements? I've kind of lost self worth because everything seems so easy now.

Note: I'm taking a multi vitamin pill, green tea extract, fish oil, and vitamin D pills.

anything you have to take with working out doesn't seem like cheating to me. if you were just sitting on your butt and taking those and gaining muscle I would say that was cheating

I think "cheating" shouldn't be your priority. Your long term health should be your priority. In my opinion, supplements like the ones you are taking aren't a long term health risk. Manipulating your hormone levels would be a long term health risk.

Do people survive steroids? Yeah, but it's still a big risk that's not worth it. Oh yeah... it's illegal too.

          That's a very good point.

I agree on supplements, as long as they're legal and not going to cause health problems.

I don't think so. Nothing you can take does the work for you. Even steroids, you still have to work hard. And if you are just working out, not competing in bodybuilding or in other sports, than you are just competing against yourself, and you will do that with or without supplements. Some people don't take anything, some people just take healthy supplements like protein shakes, some take steroids it all just depends on what your priorities are, and I wouldn't judge people for that.

And some of your worries might be in your head, you are not going to look freakishly big in 2 weeks no matter what you take. Creatine might add a few pounds of water weight, but its not going to be a drastic change.

1st: Stew, your avatar is a combo of hilarious and freaky all at once.

2nd: I agree. Supplements like creatine, protein shakes, fish oils, etc aren't cheating. Steriods and HGH are.

This was me about 3 months ago about 10lbs in fat ago. IDK why I smiled like that lol.

                    This is me last week

I have shirtless ones that I keep track of each week, but I think that would be a little private lol. This is the best I could find. Unfortunately I have no flexing pictures of before. But you can clearly tell I had a little bit of extra chub on my arms in the first picture.

(BTW I got my first tattoo a week before my 21st last month)

Great post. People that take steroids and get huge are people that already work their butt off in the gym.

You can't just inject testosterone and set on your butt expecting to putt on muscle. You still have to work hard in the gym.

Steroids might be considered cheating because you're putting more of an unnatural substance in your body but I don't see supplements as cheating, especially the crap at GNC or any other supplement stor.

Protein shakes really aren't anything special. You can get the same things from different meats. Likewise, a lot of these other pre-workout supps like Jack3d, No-xplode, etc. are just products loaded up on a caffeine.

Creatine is good but it's found in meat too.

You can waste a lot of money on supplements when you can get a lot of the same ingredients out of various foods and caffeine pills.

People used to ask me if I was on steroids but I just had a really good diet. Tuna, oatmeal, water, chicken, potatoes, fish, and maybe some carbs or caffeine is all you really need. Then when you get that down you can start eating cottage cheese before bed as it is a slower digesting protein that will keep your metabolism going at night.

People that have all the basics down are the ones who see the most results from steroids.

Unless you're playing sports there's no such thing as "cheating."

The side effects of steroids are over exaggerated.

People that eat McDonalds, smoke, and drink alcohol everyday will see far worse side effects.
