I want to call BS, but my question is why 157? Like it would have been crazy if she said 130, or 123 or something, 157 is unneeded if its a made up story right? she was 47 at the turn of the 1800's to the 1900's man, back then that was a lifetime lol. then she was 100 in the 1950's, when my dad was born, now my dad is "older" in his 60's and shes smoking clove cigarettes lol. classic.

How much stress could one person endure in South Sumatra? How much food in Sumatra is processed at a plant, given steroids, pesticides, etc. We can't fathom living that long because of our societal ways, but I wouldn't think of it as impossible.

It isn't like life expectancy in developing countries trumps that of the developed countries.

The scientific advances in the developed world outweigh the lack of processed foods in the developing world, at least for now.

A census in Indonesia has identified a 157-year old woman named Turinah of South Sumatra – if true, she can claim to be the oldest living being on Earth. She is reportedly born in 1853 and has a 108-year old adopted daughter. Turinah speaks Dutch fluently, works in her house, has clear memory, undisturbed sight and no problems of hearing – she loves to smoke clove cigarettes....(hmm, i don't smoke, but i MAY give these a try)
The only authentic record of anyone crossing 120 years of age was a Frenchwoman Jeanne Calment who died in 1997 at the age of 122.

Because it's, as stated, a 30% increase in the known human life span. Without any sort of proof I think it's just some crazy old woman who's probably 105-110.
