Yeah it is the show. It explores how humans are the greatest endurance animals on the planet and how if trained properly could run for hundreds of miles. Of course the human mind is what needs to be trained the most and any of us who have ran more than a few miles know what happens in your brain when you start getting tired!

My father watched it when it aired and described it that it is the one show a runner should watch. I've tried for weeks now to find it posted online somewhere. I think I might have to bite the bullet and just buy it and get shipped out here.

      Re: OS Running Thread

I just ran my best meet every today. It was our first outdoor meet of the year and I the entire team was pretty excited. I ran the 4x400 and only my 3rd 4x800. The 4x800 went HUGE, barely pulling out the win over the top 4x800 team in the state in the last 200 meters and I hit a split PR of 2:02. The 4x400 was a little odd because we ran against some of the best team in the state of Illinois when it came down the 4x400 so we placed 6th overall and I hit somewhere around 52.5 which is also a split PR for me. Might not sound like much, but I shaved off 3 seconds from my 800 time and 2 from my 400. I ran great today and I've never been happier with my own individual performance. The team placed 4th overall in the meet which is pretty good considering we had no one entered in pole vault and high jump.

Has anyone tried those Vibram shoes for running? They look a bit silly but apparently are good at helping you run without injury in the long term and are kinda like running barefoot with a bit more protection.

I'm thinking about getting a pair but there is a class action lawsuit pending so I'm gonna hold out.

I'm really happy with Endomundo, the training app for phones. I started doing some interval training last week and enjoy it.

My wife has been hitting it hard and surpassed my time by 20 seconds the other day. She's really enjoying running.
Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.

Guys I work with use Endomundo but I just run with my now old school Garmin 305

Once I started with it I never turned back.

Good job Kev! That is a serious training day.

^^^ Nice. I better more high tech compared to my plain digital wrist watch and google maps pedometer.

I did my first ever 10k this morning at 5am. It sure as hell wasn't fast (took me 58mins 14sec) but I was just happy to finish at this stage.

I don't know what I would do without my Garmin...I think I have the 405 cx or something? I have no plans for upgrading...First they are expensive and second I don't need to know anything other than my pace, time, and miles. haha

Takes a little while to get used to-like any electronic though. I don't know what I would do without mine.

They are great. They also keep track of your mileage which I go back and look at each week to see how I did and remember how I felt. I still have some running friends who are writing their miles in their diary. The Garmin is the evolution of that.

Solid week running wise. Ran 20 miles yesterday for my marathon training and held a 7:51 pace. Ran a 5K this morning in 21:07 (6:48 Pace) !

Earlier in the thread I talked about hoping to complete a 10K run by the end of the summer, well I did one a couple weeks ago. I pushed myself to a level I didn't think I could reach.

It may sound strange to somebody that doesn't run, but I really enjoy running.

That's awesome! I hope to do my first 10K this fall. I've gone from doing 3-4 miles to 4-5 miles on my runs now. I did a 5K last week and finished in 25:20, which considering the course had several hills, was a real good time for me.

Congrats. Everytime I go out for a run, I make sure I go at least 5K even when I feel like crap.
