Ehh mixed feeling. I ended up in the medical tent because of dehydration. Both hands and feet were asleep and my blood pressure was messed up for awhile.

Luckily spent some time in there and everything returned to normal after some Gatorade/Water.

But yeah...4 minute PR is huge, I just wish I could have seen what I could have finished if I was good to go...That last mile felt like an eternity!

Can anyone recommend a good neutral shoe for underpronation? Asics preferably? I currently run with GEL Kushon 2s. Not a very popular model but I love the look and feel. Only problem is the wear is starting to show from my underpronation. Looking at the Nimbus 12s right now. From what I've read this is exactly what I'm looking for. Would've loved the Kayano 17s based on looks alone but from what I've read they're more for overpronators.

What's great about Asics.com is that they tell you exactly what the shoe is for. Here is the list of shoes:

If they are a running shoe (There are some other shoes on that page) it will tell you the pronation range on the right. I would definitely stay away from Kayano's..On the website the bar isn't even in the under pronation range.

In running 3 miles a run I got myself to a nice 9:15 average mile. I upped it to 4 miles this morning and my pace dropped to around 10:30 on the fourth mile. I want to increase my distance to about 5 miles, but I don't know if I want to run a 9:15 mile. Maybe that's my limit because I feel like I'm moving fast. I know a guy that does ultra-marathons and runs at an insane pace. I can't imagine it.

Ultra-Marathons are insane...And pace is a funny thing, trust me if you run enough you will get more comfortable with a certain distance/pace.

Last year during my first half marathon I finished with a 1:55:XX, at the same event a year later (Exactly) I finished 1:49:14. Difference was an 8:48 pace to a 8:21. If you are willing to put a lot of time into it, you will definitely see results and eventually run 9:15 for all 5 miles. However, I still don't understand how elite athletes can run a 5 minute pace for 26.2 miles...Absolutely amazing.

As for me, I am trying to get in 40 miles this week to get my legs ready for marathon training, which begins next week. Ran 8 miles this morning and will probably get a 10 mile run in on Saturday...Weather finally cooled off so it has actually been enjoyable haha

Do you follow a strict eating routine? I swear I told myself I never would do it but I think I have to start eating better. It's not that I eat bad but I like to enjoy things like carbs etc.

But I love it. We're finally in a place where our kids are grown enough that they don't wake up too early and I can get out by 6 or 6:15 in the morning and it's just something I really look forward to.

I have always ate very odd, I am not a big "Meal" person. I usually snack on things every couple of hours...Which I have read it actually better.

I would consider myself sort of healthy, I don't eat anything bad for you (Don't eat candy, sweets, chocolate ever) And I usually at least have one banana and apple a day with yogurt. However, I do eat a lot of pizza...I am extremely picky. When I do get into training I add in a lot of baked potatoes, rice, pasta, and bread.

Good luck! Make sure you have a program to follow then there is no backing down.

Every marathon my wife will make me a calendar for the 4-5 months of the program and I put it up on my wall. Then each day I just look at what I have to run that day. There is literally nothing to think/complain about you literally have to do the mileage that is on the wall. The wall rules all.

Check out halhigdon.com for some really good programs.

I have his book, but decided to go with the pfitz plan instead. 12 weeks starting with 35 miles a week and peak around 60 then tapers down.

Booking the Lisbon, Portugal Marathon for the first weekend in December. Not ideal time of year to visit Portugal but I will take 12 degrees celsius when everywhere else is -10!

Glad someone bumped this up, I had been meaning to post in here last month after I set a new 5K PR. I finished just over 24 minutes, which I was very happy with.

Has anyone else run the Warrior Dash? I did the Ohio one a few weeks ago and it was pretty fun. Not exactly your typical 5k race given all the terrain and obstacles, but the conditioning is definitely a huge part of it.

Man I'm pumped for Track this year.. I don't do XC because I mainly do sprints and jumps. I'm trying to work on breaking 50 seconds in the 400 this year. I ran a 52.6 last year when I was a sophomore so that was pretty good for my age, but I want to be good on the Varsity 4x400 so getting it down under 50 would be huge for me and the relay.
