    Social Network sites addiction

Anyone else addicted to the social network sites like twitter and facebook? I am addicted pretty badly to facebook and I really want to break it. Any suggestions from people that use to be just like me?

I'm on Facebook practically all day long. It's been like this for the last four years. LOL

I never got in to Twitter, but I hear you on Facebook. Sometimes I'll be bored using my computer and realize that I've gone to Facebook out of pure habit. I don't even remember hitting the button to go there.

For a while, I removed Facebook from my bookmarks so I would have to actually type the address to get to it. That sort of helped because I'd be too lazy to type the address or would start typing it and think to myself You were just on Facebook. There is nothing new. Stop.

In the end, I don't think it's necessarily unhealthy unless you're checking Facebook/Twitter over and over for one particular thing (Girl, Ex, etc.). Just try to keep yourself occupied.

I have a facebook account, but I honestly don't get the appeal to where it'd become an addiction.

I check Facebook about once or twice every day or every other day. I hardly post things on there, maybe a couple statuses per week. I usually just see whats going on with my friends. I'm on it each time for no more than ten minutes. What do you guys do on FB that makes you stay on all day long? I'll chat with friends and stuff, but once I've seen all the recent updates there isn't much more to do.

I'm thinking it's moreso because I have a lot of down time at work. I only visit a handful of sites, so it always seems that I'm looking at my FB page. Now when I get home, I don't really check it. OS is my evening thing. LOL

              Same here.

When I get on a computer, one of the first sites I check is FaceBook. I'll check out the News Feed and see the status updates and whatnot. Maybe post a status myself (usually song lyrics from bands and songs none of my friends have ever heard ). If someone's on FB Chat maybe I'll hit them up to see what's going on for the day. Takes about 10 minutes. I don't really click on other people's profiles and go clicking through everything. That just isn't for me.

Also, I stay away from the "Liking" and all the groups and apps and stuff. I kind of just "have" a FaceBook. I don't really use the site that much. It looks like now you can "like" a thing and it'll take you to a completely different website. With how stupid the average person is, I'm surprised people aren't getting their information and stuff stolen from them by these outside websites that make it seem like they're part of FaceBook.

I think my issue is having to much down time as well. It seems that whenever I get a free secod I check facebook like a bad habit. Now it's like I check it every hour almost. Perhaps i just need to find stuff to occupy my mind, but right now that's my go to site when bored then I'll stay on if something intrigues me haha

                      Re: Social Network sites addiction

I barely use facebook, I get on about once a week to delete some notices, I literally never look at anyone elses profile. I just really don't care what any of my "friends" are doing currently, or care about their pictures when they got drunk last night, or some new game they played, or their new relationship, or some stranger that I don't know writing on their wall. I see my friends in real life enough. I think it's sad that so many people are obsessed with this stuff and other people's lives, sometimes people who they barely know yet they know what party they are going to tonight.

I truly think society is headed in a bad direction with this stuff. I just graduated college....too many people I went to school with are brain washed by facebook, wasting all of their time obsessing over other people and posting drunken pictures of themselves all over the internet. And these are the people that are going to run businesses and schools in the future? It's only going to get worse with every generation

In all seriousness, do you happen to be single? Because back when I was single I used to be on My Space and Face Book all the time. Now days not so much.

Yes I am single, just got out of a relationship. I think that plays a big part in it too. I think one reason I want to get off fb as much is because I don't want to be as available as I use to be. I think another reason I want to get away from being on fb is to help me move on from my last gf as well. But yet I still always find myself on there all the time. And most of the time I just have it up while doing other things but recently it has been worse.

Are you waiting for something to happen with your ex-girlfriend's Facebook? I know I had that issue a few years ago when I got out of a long-term relationship. I just kept checking her Facebook to see what she was doing, who she was with, etc., since we weren't talking anymore.

Eventually, I un-friended her, and it was the best thing that could have possibly happened to me.
