Quick update: I've spoken with the pediatric doctor and things have taken a good turn. The MRI came back clean and they later informed us that they actually had him up walking. He's not totally out of the woods, but they are very pleased with his quick progress.

We have a lot of people praying, and my family are people of faith (I won't bore you with those details). But I truly want to thank all of you and I'll provide an update later. We're heading out the door to see him...

This community means a lot to me and I really appreciate the thoughtfulness of so many here. I typically don't put things like this out there, but I please know the depth of my thanks to all of you!
Good to hear your kid is doing well. I'll still send out a prayer so your kid can go home with you and your family and live a normal life.

      THIS IS GREAT!!!!!!!!!!

God willing he makes a full 100% recovery, but very good news and good to see he was able to get on his own two.

My heart dropped out of my chest as I was reading your initial post. I wish you and your family nothing but the best, and hope that this all just becomes a story talked about over Christmas dinner many years from now.
