It's never easy man, no matter the animal. Growing up, I always had my two cats, Chenniese and Sam, right by my side. I usually got home from school before my parents were home from work, and as soon as I cracked the door open, they would come running right up to me.

The day Sam was put down was one of the hardest days I have been through. Had never lost anyone before, so I didn't know how it would be. Needless to say, it wasn't easy. I didn't go to school the day after. The same went for Chenniese. I still miss them, and it's been 3 years.

Definitely agree with everyone in here. Take your time to grieve man, it's never easy. It's amazing how attached you can get, and when they are gone, it feels as though part of you is gone. Just remember the good times you had together.

Man I am so sorry for your loss, it is really hard. I just adopted a puppy from the local shelter. My last dog died over ten years ago and it took me this long to decide I was ready for another dog.

My condolences sir on the loss of your dog. I don't care what people say, pets are a part of your family and it takes some time to get over the loss of them just as it does human family members. I'm dreading the day that my cat dies, she is 18 years old and she is starting to decline pretty rapidly. I've had that cat basically my entire life and I'll be sad when she is gone.

Wow, you had some serious memories w/ that dog, that won't go away anytime soon bro. Time will heal the pain, but you'll always think of your little buddy. Just think of good times & great memories...& you'll be fine.
