Opinion of phrasing of statement question

    When you read:

"grades of a D from an institution will be considered transferable only if the students cumulative GPA at that institution is at least a 2.0 out of 4.0 at the time the work is transferred."

The word "Considered" is in bold.

    Do you think:
    A) They take your D into consideration if your other grades at the institution bring your GPA up to at least a 2.0
    B) They consider it transferable if your overall GPA is a 2.0 no matter what.

I think the part that is throwing me off is "Considered" being bold which makes me think it could be option A.

Here is the situation, I had a A in another class at this institution (Community college) that had 3 credits. I just received a D in a 4 credit class. Those averaged out is a 2.29. So I am just curious what you guys think. Will my D be considered because of my overall GPA is at least a 2.0? Or does it become transferable because my GPA is at least a 2.0 at the community college.

Hopefully this comes across clearly, this has been one hell of a day to say the least. I hope you guys choose option B

Looks like I overead the next statement though...

College of Communications does not accept transfer grades of D and F...Which I am in

For some reason I was thinking Math isn't is Com so I was fine with that.

It seems to me like they put it in bold to add emphasis on considered, meaning it is simply considered, not definite (if your GPA is 2.0-4.0).
Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.

I'm pretty sure it's a definite. As long as you meet the minimum requirement, it's good. If not, that would be a pretty arbitrary and vague standard.

Majors usually don't accept D's though. C or better transfers...

I agree with DaveDQ and it seems to me they are emphasizing arbitrary and vague so they can make decisions at their discretion.

The thing is my college doesn't accept D's in any course apparently..

Even though it's a Math class and doesn't fit in with the College of Communication, I am in that college that doesn't accept it lol

                Turns out:
Grade transfered if overall is over a 2.0 no matter what
It doesn't matter If I am in the College of Communications, it transfers because it's a Math course.

                The Kicker:
The A I received in Speech class last semester does NOT raise my GPA at this community college to a 2.29.

                Why?

Simply because both classes aren't being transferred together...

                  So I was right. Sweet...

And the 24 million dollar question is why are the 2 classes being transferred separately? That doesn't make any sense.

One of them was last summer, so it was already transferred/
