How long do you pay for all of your girls stuff?

Me and my buddy are arguing over this. He and his girl have been together since the start of April, and he still pays for EVERYTHING when they go out. Maybe this is why I am single, but unless I am getting A LOT in return I wouldn't still be paying for all of her stuff 5 months into it and basically paying double every time out.

What's the ruling on this?

I've been in a relatonship for a year and still pay for everything. It sucks sometimes but then again we started eating in more instead of going out and using redbox/netflix over going to see movies in theaters.

Seriously though offer to have her pay this time and gauge her reaction. If she's totally offended, she could be a user.

Or even propose the "dutch treat" payment method and see what she thinks.

I'm married to wonderful, stay-at-home mom.

Translation = I pay for everything.

With that said, when you're dating, it should be split up. Maybe not 50/50, but a 60/40 or 70/30 type deal is reasonable. Chivalry is not dead but there comes a time when a guy is just getting taken advantage of financially - even in a committed relationship.

If the girl works, she should pay her share and NOT expect her guy to pay for EVERYTHING. Times are tough out there. If both chip in, perhaps the future looks brighter for them as a couple. I know I tend to resent paying for everything (not in my marriage, but in other past relationships).

Society says the guy should pay always; common sense says that's just stupid.

It's always been 50/50 with me and my lady. But lately, it's been more her paying for things with my lack of a job & being in school and all.

My girlfriend has always been good with helping out with stuff. In fact, she shouldered the load when I was without a job. When she's low on funds, I'll pay for stuff. When we're both going good, we split things. Our relationship is solid because we realize we're sort of like a team. I know if I have to pay for this whole bill, she'll be there for me when I need her help in paying for something.

I think the guy should pay during the courting of the girl, but once it reaches a comfortable boyfriend-girlfriend stage, they should start to split things.

Been with my girlfriend for nearly 8 years now. We usually just switch off when paying for things. I started out paying for everything and then we would split it up or switch off. When I graduated from college it took me months to find work so I didn't have very much money at all. She was paying for basically everything at that point. Now that I'm working I am paying the bills and paying for groceries to get her back for those few months of me being worthless.

My girlfriend wants to pay for things. She wants it to be dead even, but I generally try to make it 60-40.

She's the first girl who stands up for herself and will pay for things. I will never be with another girl who does not.

I usually pay 70 percent of the time, but my girl REALLY wants to pay for my stuff. It's cool every once in a while, but I feel like I should shoulder most of the load. Now if I'm down in the dumps (and I have been there a few times), she always comes through. At the end of the day, that's all you can ask for.

I have been with Stefanie for 3 months. I pay about 60% of the time and she pays the other 40% of the time. But due to trying to lose weight and save money we've been eating out much less lately.

60-40 is a good ratio when dating. But once married that tends to fall more the 90-10 or 100-0 ratio.

But maybe your name rings a bell at why you don't wanna pay.......BUM

It's probably 70/30 or 80/20 with me paying. My gf is in school right now and only able to work 3 nights a week.

She usually offers to help pay for things though. In the past 2 years, I've probably taken her up on that twice.

Due to conflicting schedules we rarely eat out now.
