      Re: Off Topic 2010

I don't know if anybody else had to do one of those: "What do you want to be when you grow up" things?

Well, I read mine from my Elementary School yearbook when I "graduated" from the 5th grade(97)and I swear I busted out laughing when I seen two things:

      1. I said I wanted to go to the University of Kentucky and become a Lawyer when it asked what kind of job I wanted.
      2. I also put in there that my dream job was to work at McDonalds.

The CFB forums would explode and the banhammer would be getting swung excessively if he doesn't.

          Also @ Pack's post.

I work for Home Depot and I don't mind my job too bad.. I understand my department(s) completely and the knowledge isn't an issue.. I just get tired of serving the public sometimes. I work 5 days a week, but the days vary and I rarely get a full weekend day off.

One of my friends called me and offered me a job working overnights 6pm-6am Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.. and the pay is a few cents more then what I'm making now.. to pretty much ride around in a car and watch movies on my portable dvd player.. lol. It would be a change of pace, but at the same time probably boring.. and I don't really want to sell my entire weekend away for an easier job...

It's about 5 more minutes of a drive so that's not an issue either.

I've just invested a lot of time and effort and Home Depot has taught me a lot, but at the same time I'm ready for something different.. helping the public gets old sometimes.

            This decision isn't easy.
For a few cents more and a job that you are already deeming is going to be boring, I wouldn't do it. You have so much time invested with Home Depot where you've, I'm guessing, have insurance and have accumulated vacation days and such.

My opinion, stay at Home Depot and wait for something else to come along.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Watching the History of the nWo on Youtube(not the official one by WWE)and this is pretty good so far.

For those interested, just type in nWo Chapter 1 and the whole series will show up.

This is my thought as well. It may not seem like it but maybe there is a potential for a career at HD whereas the job you are describing doesn't seem like a "I could do this for the rest of my life" kind of thing.

It just seems like there are a lot more cons than there are pros, and I am basing that on the assumption that you are relatively young and single...

I'm thinking of hitting up the flea markets when the winter is over. Maybe i'll find some out of print books or "gasp" original video tapes of sports events! (ok the latter is probably a long shot)

Yeah, benefits, assuming you have them, can sometimes equal upwards of an extra 33% of salary/wages. Stick with HD.

My brother in law has been with HD for 15 years. He started when he was 17, went to SDSU and they transfered him there to SD, he worked there while going to school then when he graduated and moved back and they transfered him back to his original store where he worked while he started his buisness.

As the economy tanked so did his buisness so he went back to HD after a 3 year hiatus and they put him right back into his old job with the same salary he was making when he left. The only difference was they put him at an outer lying store cause they didn't want to have to boot the guy that took his original position. Sounds fair to me.
