Re: Post your most recent purchase
Anyway, it all depends on what company you want to go with and what you're trying to shoot, plus whether you want full frame vs. ASP-C sensor.
- Are you focused more on photography or video?
- Are you trying to shoot fast action or more "portrait" stills?
- Do you need robust autofocus features?
- Is low light a concern?
- To 4K or not to 4K?
- Do you need 1080p @ 120 FPS? (if yes, then expect to get something much more expensive)
- How important is in-body image stabilization for you?
- Are you looking for it to interact with your computer through wireless means?
- Are you already partial to a brand-name such as Canon, Nikon or Sony?
- Specifically, what is your budget?
The last thing is that understand is that for the most part when two cameras have similar feature parity, even a $2000 difference in cost won't make as much of a difference as the lenses you get, the lighting you're working with, the settings that you use, your operating ability, and what you do in post. Two of my lenses were more expensive than my camera body itself. So just like I have shown in my post before this one, it's not a cheap endeavor no matter what you do.
Anyway, just on a whim I believe some of the better entry level cameras (under $500) would be the Nikon D3500, Canon EOS Rebel SL2, and Canon Rebel T100. I am currently rocking a Canon M50 that I got for $599, so you can tell I don't have the best thing either... but I know exactly what I am getting out of it with research and know that for what I am currently trying to shoot (also as a "beginner" of sorts myself) that it fits my current needs. The one thing I wish it could do was record for more than 30 minutes at a time, but apparently for the mirrorless body it will overheat the sensor if so which is why they have it as a safety precaution. Down the line I just may upgrade, but for now I'm okay with where I'm at.
The real problem with this line of work is that damn restocking fee. You better love and appreciate what you open, otherwise you may be spending hundreds of dollars just to return an item.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Picked up a $20 PlayStation card at Best Buy, then redeemed the code this morning and got Super Star Wars for $9.99 on the PlayStation Store.
I loved this game as a kid.Comment

Picked these up today from Bestbuy. The First Purge 4K copy is actually on sale for $12 and comes with a Blu-ray copy while the actual standard Blu-ray edition is $15. And replaced my wife's old Toy Story DVD which scratched up with a Blu-ray copy. Mainly went in to get Halloween.Attached FilesIt’s easier to do the right thing, than to explain why you didn’t.Comment

Re: Post your most recent purchase
Picked up a 3D printer. Been a fun hobby so far. Got the Ender 3, wasn't very expensive. Fun to build. Been designing items for around the house (hooks, stands, papertowel holders, etc) on tinkercad and printing them. They work great. Had no way to hang my 4 foot worklight with a drop ceiling......so I printed clips that wrap around the metal hanging brackets of the drop ceiling and boom, worklight!
Although, I get the sneaking suspicion that my wife is getting sick of random plastic objects being strewn about the house. Very useful and fun, really like it.
I think the final straw was my Goldfish catapult that she learned about when she fell asleep on the couch and I was bombs away from my chair with a full bag of Goldfish at her......well, I had fun.Last edited by shogunofharlem3; 02-14-2019, 11:59 PM.Comment

Re: Post your most recent purchase
I hate how stores have a free shipping minimum and some items end up being 40 cents below that minimum. There's no even half decent items worth spending a dollar or two on. At least Amazon has most random of cheap things.
Getting something from a bookstore. 30 cents below minimum. Really isn't anything else worth getting that's cheap. I'd settle for something like batteries for all I care lol.Comment

Re: Post your most recent purchase
Decided to try out new things over traditional drug store items. Have to wait for charcoal toothbrush, but I've read it's better than the regular kinds. Softer and cleans better while not attracting types of bacteria a regular brush does.
In a "let's mix things up" phase. Seeing what commonly used things I could upgrade on by getting things that I might not have known about.
Also got
Cleans your feet so easily. I know guys don't care about their feet as much, but this works so well. Especially coming up on spring weather, less use for socks indoors, this makes your feet feel so much softer.
Better than any other tool or amount of lotion I've used.Last edited by Majingir; 03-12-2019, 06:59 PM.Comment

Re: Post your most recent purchase
Bought the Galaxy Watch Active that just released last week. I've never had a smart watch before for a few reasons.
Spoiler
Couldn't justify the price given that the way technology rapidly changes, and it seemed like watches would be obsolete every couple years.
Battery life always seemed poor.
Design...i like the classic watch look. I'm not a fan of the square faces and/or bulky faces many have.
Nothing really seemed have everything I wanted in one package (music, texts, design, health tracking, etc)
Well I pulled the trigger on this one because it seemed to address a lot of the above points, and at just $200 it was a relatively cheap intro into into the market.
Overall I'm pretty happy with it. It's extremely light weight, very confortable on the wrist, and I've really enjoyed being able to go on a run, leaving my phone behind while still having both music and GPS tracking. Keeping track of my heart rate is a bonus that I've always wished I could track on workouts too.
Biggest complaint so far is definitely battery life. I've already given up using this to track sleep and just using the night as a perfect time to get a full charge. With minimal use you can probably get 2 days out of it. I dropped about 40% charge last night on a 3 mile run while playing music though.
