Re: OS Book Club Pt II
My resolution this year is to read a lot more and keep a journal of favorite quotes from the books I'm reading. I want to pick up The Great Gatsby before the movie comes out and want to read Vonnegut's Galapagos. I recently restarted A Game of Thrones so I can (hopefully) get through the third book before the third season starts.

Re: OS Book Club Pt II
I enjoyed it. It's not the Hunger Games, and it's pretty obvious. Hunger Games was definitely a well-written young adult novel, whereas BR was not (written for young adults). It's much more graphic, and the personal stories are completely different in that it doesn't have the one central character. My only issue with it wasn't even with the book. Whenever I read a translated book, I always wonder how much of the story might be missing.Through music, you can live forever...TEAMS: San Diego Chargers, San Diego Padres, Notre Dame Fighting IrishComment

Depends on what I know about them, but if I had to pick, I would say:
-Ender's Game
-On the Road
-Rule of the Bone
Those are the ones that got me hooked.

@Dookie
Is it a man or a woman?
If it's a woman I would definitely recommend the Anita Blake series starting from Guilty Pleasures (Book 1). The herione of the book is someone who's fully capable of defending herself (and demonstrates this, in universe, multiple times). She needs no one to save her from any fights. People call HER for backup is what I'm getting at.
If it's a guy I would still recommend the Anita Blake series but with a caveat by saying it's in 1st person so...eh. Depends on what bugs him.
I'd also reccommend the Artemis Fowl series as well. Think Batman if Batman was 11 and Alfred was the asskicker instead of being a regular old butler. It's a great YA series.
Oh, silly me. Asks if he or she likes non-fiction and/or history. There are plenty of great Non-fiction books out there. Such as autobiographies or biographies in general. Moneyball (it was about baseball right) was a book as well right?Comment

Re: OS Book Club Pt II
Last year I decided to re-read the Dune saga by the legendary Frank Herbert. I'm on the second book now Dune Messiah. My g/f bought me a book called Dark Alliance by Gary Webb for Christmas. It's about the Iran/Contra scandal during the Reagan administration and the Contra's connection to the crack cocaine epidemic in Los Angeles during the 80's. It also talks about how the CIA could have been involved either directly or indirectly. Gary Webb was slanderd by the mainstream media for his work in uncovering this connection and unfortunately commited suicide years later. Recently most of his investigative work has been backed up and proven to be true. Looking fwd to this read.Comment

Hard to rank them and they were all very good books. Started out strong on my quest for 52 books this year.Comment

I've basically started reading every second I had free at work. Show up early, get in 15-20 minutes. 15 minute breaks. Hour long lunch.
I can get in probably 100 pages a day, which is close to the pace I'm at right now. Ill get a page count when I get home and remember it.
Up next is "IT" by Stephen King (I'm, clearly, on a Stephen King classics kick)...I read Salems Lot, The Stand and The Shining last year.Comment

Re: OS Book Club Pt II
I finished John Grishman's Playing For Pizza not long ago and enjoyed it. Considering I live in the Quad Cities, and Davenport, IA is the home of the main character, it seemed like a cool book. Not to mention the he played QB for Iowa according to the story it was a must get.
