Re: OS Book Club Pt II
I just started "reading for fun" when I picked up a couple of books on a long flight to Oregon.
I have read the following titles this year:- The Long Run: A New York City Firefighter's Triumphant Comeback From Crash Victim to Elite Athlete
- Believe: My Faith and the Tackle That Changed My Life
- The Secret to Success
- Born to Run
- Sacred Acre
All of the books hold the same formula (Sports + Inspiration). I am trying to branch out and I am looking for any kind of suggestions that still hold true to the "inspiration" aspect of the formula.
Here are some other books I thought would be good:- Running for My Life: One Lost Boy's Journey from the Killing Fields of Sudan to the Olympic Games
- Trident K9 Warriors: My Tale From the Training Ground to the Battlefield with Elite Navy SEAL Canines
- The Road

I finished Outlaw Platoon and The Boy from Reactor 4. Both were exceptional.
Up next: No Country for Old Men, The Green MileComment

Re: OS Book Club Pt II
That's a great book. Lot of emotion pouring through those pages. Think I'd probably put it in the top 5 of the military type books I've read.Last edited by Chaos81; 04-21-2013, 07:51 PM.Comment

Just finished A Dance With Dragons and am moving on to "Who Could That Be At This Hour?"
I've heard great things, but I'm not sure how excited I am. I liked the Series of Unfortunate Events series, but didn't love it. Anyone here read it?Writer for Operation Sports

Re: OS Book Club Pt II
My father-in-law recently published his first novel, Chuck & Bob's Garage. It takes place in a small lake town in Ohio, where two alien mechanics crash-land and assume human form to learn about Earth culture while waiting to be rescued. They get caught up in some trouble with the local mafia, law enforcement, and eventually the FBI... but they also befriend a goofy old man named Pappy, who teaches them life lessons all while battling a large rat in a Captain Ahab/Moby Dick-esque vendetta. Lots of off-beat, sometimes dark humor; I'd recommend it to Brautigan or Vonnegut fans. Check it out if you have a chance... it's only $2.99 on Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/Chuck-And-Bobs...ords=lynnellenComment

Re: OS Book Club Pt II
I used to read ALL the time when I was a kid. My interest in reading has not been what it once was. I'm 28 now, and I've probably read less than 15 books over the years.
I've been getting the itch to read again. The first book that popped into my head is Stephen King's The Green Mile. The movie was excellent. I can only assume the book will be the same. I think I'm going to pick it up this weekend.Comment

Just finishing Ender's Game which has been very good.
Going back to non-fiction and can't think of anyone better. Been looking forward to this one after reading Stalingrad, Berlin, and DDay.

I just finished The Prodigal Spy by Joseph Kanon, and despite the lackluster ending (imo) I thought it was a solid book.
I am just starting Imposter by Davis Bunn now.Cincinnati Reds University of Kentucky Cincinnati Bengals
