    Anyone here play memoir 44?

I love board games, but I just bought this one last night. If you don't know what it is just google it. Pretty solid.

I'd never heard of it until now, but that does look quite interesting.

Just found this thread from 2010 because I was going to ask the same question.....

The game is outstanding, I just picked it up and a few expansions a few weeks back. I have been painting my miniatures and have completed the German Army and am onto the Americans. Here is my German army....

Just picked uup the equipment pack so I'll have alot of painting to do once golf season is over and the snow flies....

A mod may want to move this to non-sports gaming if it doesn't belong here.

Great game, and those painted minis, fistofrage, look great! I've been playing a lot of Battles of Westeros which uses a similar "commands and colors" system but is set in the world of A Song of Ice and Fire.

              Thanks.

Yeah, I thought about buying th Battles of Westeros, but went all in with Memoir instead and bought the game and pretty much every expansion. I like that system. You can make it as complex or easy as you like it. Memoir has a ton of rules if you combine all the expansions. But they are basically pretty easy to follow.

I also like Battle Cry. Same type system, except Civil War.

Taking some time away from slider testing to relax and paint. Here's a picture of the US GI's. In front is what the figure looked like unpainted.....

I've so far resisted ALL the expansions for Westeros...though I have House Tully, House Baratheon, and the Brotherhood without Banners ones. I just love the leader mechanic in it where you have your "sphere of influence" and can thus refresh units and just run wild if you get the right command cards in your hand.

I incorporate house rules as I see fit from other C & C games into Memoir 44 and Battlecry. Now that I have the equipment pack \ith the jeeps and Kubelwagons and such, you can basically have Patton or Rommel on the map and incorporate that sphere of influence if you want.

In Battlecry, I have a houserule for Bayonette charge, for infantry I don't count the cross sabers as a hit unless you are next to the enemy and declare a bayonnete charge. If you eliminate the enemy or get them to retreat you can take ground and charge again. Yoou could in theory chase the enemy all the way off the board unless a general rallies the,,,,,,However, if the enemy doesn't retreat or is elimanted, they battle back and it gets real bloody real quick. Good stuff.
