    Kidney Stones

So I was just diagnosed, for the second time this year, with kidney stones. First time, I had two. One of which was the biggest it could possibly get before they go ahead and take care of it themselves. I had to pass that thing and was scared as hell. A few weeks later, I find out it passed and I didn't even feel it.

Fast forward to a week ago, I was having an odd discomfort when I was going to the bathroom. Also had the urge to go when I didn't have much to offer the toilet. I thought it was just a urinary tract infection. Yesterday, the discomfort turned to pain and I even started feeling that flank pain you would feel from kidney stones.

I went to the ER since my doctor doesn't work on Sundays and they found three this time. The initial bathroom pain I felt was little bits of stones passing through.

Clearly I didn't learn my lesson. I'm sure a few of you guys have had kidney stones. How have you changed or adjusted from it? Avoiding certain foods?

    BTW... I'm only 22 =/

I've been down that road, bro. Some of the worst pain you can feel.

Haven't changed my diet, I guess it was the grits, grapes and strawberries that did me in, but I really haven't changed the frequency of eating those items.

Uric acid for me. Too much meat. Doctor told me to stay away from foods with purine. I did for a while but didn't keep at it.

I need to start drinking more water. To prevent these from ever coming back, I'll turn into a damn fountain if I have to.

I've had them. Drink water, avoid drinking many cokes, tea, apple juice, and things of that nature.

Uric acid for me as well. The doctor now has me on potassium citrate pills. In the past 3 years I have averaged kidney surgery for stones every 2 months. I've had a total of 30 surgerys in the last 5 years for stones.

I think I may have just passed one. Not too sure since it was number 1 AND 2 so I couldn't see. I was going and then the flow gradually stopped but I still felt I had more. Then it just quickly started up. The pain wasn't too excrucitating so I'm not exactly sure. Is that how it went when it passed for any of you?
