Ah, I love when NY threads turn into NY memory threads.

Someday, PackMan, you'll be one of us.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

"You'll not find more penny-wise/pound-foolish behavior than in Major League Baseball." - Rob Neyer

I guess if you're from Vermont or somewhere like that I can understand being worried but it seriously wasn't THAT bad here. I spent my entire youth in the south side.
Yeah I know what you mean. I grew up in the hood as well and none of that scares me either. I remember as a kid going to the south side with my mom to visit someone and some dude came out of nowhere and tried to yank my mom's chain off her neck. I was probably 8 or 9 at the time.

At this point I think I just getting tired of NYC. I don't like the cold weather too much. Is jacksonville expensive? I like florida.. I just keep hearing a lot of bad things especially pertaining to the economy.
Yeah, Kelloggs was off the chain. I can't remember how many times I would be in there eating while the sun was coming up after being out in the city all night.

I grew up in the Bushwick Houses off Flushing Avenue. It was a weird area, cause it was kind of in between Bushwick, Williamsburg and Bed Stuy. So it wasn't really a true neighborhood. Most folks think of actual Bushwick as being the neighborhood over by Knickerbocker Ave.

I don't remember Jacksonville being too expensive. The law firm I worked at in NY had a Jacksonville office, and we considered moving there. We even went down on a scouting trip. But that was back in the early 2000s. I didn't get a "Florida" feel to it, more like Georgia, since you're basically right across the state line. My wife's family lives in the Tampa/Orlando area, which was why I decided that if we moved to Florida, Jacksonville was an acceptable distance away.

I drove down Metropolitan last summer when I went up to NY for a Mets game with my son. It was at night, so I couldn't really get a good look for what the area looked like. I did see more lights than usual. There's this place I used to go to on the corner of Union and Grand, I think it was run by some Mexican folks, that had the best ham and egg sandwiches. Don't know why I'm just remembering it now. I might have to stop there when I go back in June.
