Firefighter films girl's gruesome death and posts it on the internet....

Parents outraged that a firefighter videotaped their daughter's car crash death, posted clip online

And someone even bigger asshat sent it to her parents. Apparently the posted video also reveals they did nothing to attempt to save her......

This is why I lose more faith in humanity by the day.......

Probably because you read the news and people doing good rarely makes the news. Life is much more enjoyable when you stop giving a crap about the events around you. I used to get worked up about this kind of stuff too, now I just dont care anymore.

The worst part is there doesn't seem to be anything to sue over...MassNole correct me if I'm wrong. I hope I am.

First responders trying to get better light for their video just lovely.

Agreed. The corporate news machine shapes opinions and is mostly negative.

I haven't seen the video nor do I have any inclination to do so, but depending on Georgia statute and case law, you could perhaps get to Negligent Infliction of Emotional Distress for posting the video. The person who sent it to her parents could also possibly be nailed for Intentional or Negligent Infliction of Emotional Distress. As for liability for the firefighters' purported inaction at the scene, my guess is Georgia has a law to shield them liability outside of gross negligence and without seeing it or knowing Georgia law I won't speculate.

Since I am a truck driver I know these rules a little bit. If someone is in immediate danger and you can do something without danger to yourself, it is required of you to do something. It is a double edged sword though, if you pull an injured person from a car(not on fire), they can sue you if pulling them out caused them to be injured further.

Now since these are Firefighters, there is no excuse for them not helping unless they could not help. I kind of want to see this video to see if there was anything they could do, Im sure they will be prosecuted and this video will determine their fate.

haven't seen the video (don't care to), and not sure of all the details. i know that if they let her die and didn't act (as a first responder you have a DUTY TO ACT), he/she/whoever can be held liable for not trying to help...

                            If you read the article

"Jeff's ex-brother-in-law had seen the video posted online and felt he needed to forward it to Dayna's father."

Sounds like he was just trying to inform him it was out there and didn't send it as a joke. I think if I had decided on showing it to him though I would do it in person and not in an email.

Officials in the area are investigating the incident, but according to the current laws on the books, the video does not seem to be illegal because the firefighter was using his personal cell phone and did not purposefully release the video to the press.

                              Pretty much sums it up...
