    Pretty much sums it up...
Still the torts of Negligent and/or Intentional Infliction of Emotional Distress though.

Shame on you and your kind, Knight165!

In less-than-all seriousness, at least it's not like that story of the person who e-mailed a girl's parents directly a photograph of their child after she died in a car accident. It wasn't a personal insult, if that makes sense.

There are many websites with these photographs and videos, he's just another guy who did it. The differences are that he's a firefighter (whom we'd believe would display more moral sympathy toward the issue) and the parents happened to receive word of the video as well. He didn't go straight to them, as opposed to that other article I'm referring to.

I know this guy want serve jail time for this. But I'm sure he will face a hugh lawsuit from that family for this and will loss his job over this. This guy was wrong to even record this and show it to people in bar. People have no sense of moral today. It is not right for this guy has done. I don't see this been something that the guy should spend years in jail for. But this something like this should land him a hugh fine be that state and he should say he sorry to the family for this happening. No sense for this what so ever. I don't blame the family of this girl for been so mad over this.

If they didnt act and let the girl die because they were busy filming her they could be held accountable I am pretty sure. I dont know much about GA law though, but in most states first responders are required to act.

It is no excuse for him doing it. But sometimes seeing stuff like this every day can really make you a little insensitive to it. I have been an EMT/medic for 10 years now, when you see stuff like this sometimes you dont realize how much of an impact it has on people that dont see it every day. I havent seen the video, but the one site I was reading it sounds like the young girl was already dead and there really wasnt anything that could be done. I know a lot of people porb dont understand how someone could make a joke or something in a situation like that, but sometimes that is the only thing to keep you from going crazy. I dont really see that point in making a video though, that is a little twisted.

I would guess the firefighter probably feels like **** too. It was probably just one of those stupid things he did, ended up in the wrong persons hands and now it is back to her family.

Who would actually sit and watch death happen? I don't want to ever see it...Shame on both the firefighter and the people watching the video.

Also, since when do firefighters have cameras? Did he bring his own? I know cops have them (which is why there's the World's Wildest Police chase chows) but firefighters...?

I think it was just on his cellphone, which is what I don't get. Was he recording something prior to the accident, and then said accident happened to occur in front of them during his recording? I'm not sure how everything went about exactly.

What about the fact that nobody (including law enforcement officials) has an expectation of privacy in public?

Plus, the firefighter who shot the video isn't the one who sent the video to the parents of the victim.

And the coup de gras would be that the parents are flat out liars if they decide to pursue legal action regarding this matter based on the simple fact that they said they just want to get over the death of their daughter and move on. By attempting to sue the firefighter and/or whomever he represents would do nothing but drag this entire ordeal out even further and make trying to get over their daughter's death a hell of a lot harder and more time consuming than it already is.

Is the firefighter kind of a tool for recording the accident? Yes and no.

Should he have uploaded it to the internet? Probably not.

Did he commit a criminal act by doing so? No.

                Just my two cents anyway...

                  Great post 55

I'm also pretty certain there was no way to save the girl. I can see an idiot taking video of a person already gone, but if she was alive they would try to save her.

I hope nobody is sick enough to be in a job where they are supposed to try and save your life, but instead film you dying instead of attempting to save you.

This whole thing kind of hits close to home for me because I was involved in a situation in the Army where a Soldier died and there was nothing we could do to help him. There was an accident and he was on the back of a Truck and it pinned him, the Vehicle caught fire and there was not jack**** we could do to help him.

Now perhaps this Firefighter was a first responder and they did not have the tools to help this girl. Perhaps he was filming this not knowing someone would die, he just did it because he thought it would be cool to film what they do.

Lots of "What Ifs" here, Could it have been handled better? Absolutely but we do not know enough information to actually pass judgment.
