An Eye Doctors On OS?

Got a question for any eye doctors, or anyone who can relate to this question. My little brother is 14 and is far sighted, and has astigmatisms. His glasses also have a prism in them, which make his eyes appear larger than normal. He's constantly getting made fun of for it, is there any way he can get contacts? I would think he would be able to but knowing his glasses have a prism in them, has me wondering.

Maybe, more then likely he can if it isn't too severe. If not, tell your younger brother to get some lightly tinted glasses. It will hide the enlargement of his eyes.

Thanks GMSS, I dont think it's too severe, but I was also reading online about Aspheric eye glass lenses, which reduce the eye enlargement, so those could be the 2nd option for him.

If your little is not very confident in his abilities to defend himself, or just not very confident at all how bout a suggestion to him to start taking some martial arts classes? They're designed to build confidence in ones self.

Problem is most of the people talking crap are females, and he knows better not to raise a hand to them, sure people can say ignore'em and walk away but theres times its not that easy.

Ahhhh...yea don't want to hit a female. Although...some really deserve it sometimes. Not to escalate the situation, but is there anything that can be said back to them? I mean do they got buck teeth, pimples, haven't developed yet? Because sometimes people joke on someone just because they know the person won't say anything back, and they can get their shots in to boost their confidence and not worry about someone saying something negative to/about them.

That doesn't work and really just makes the problem 10 times worse. Most bullies can careless about their house being called, detention or suspension or getting in trouble.

If you have a sister have her sock them girls in the mouth, if you don't have a sister well im sure some female would be willing to do it for the right compensation.

I'm far sighted on one eye and near sighted in the other and I used to wear contacts for YEARS. I'm sure he can get contacts if he wants.

And then it is nothing more than a vicious cycle. How about ignoring them?

I know, I know. That is not the answer you're looking for. But the best way to get past it is to not let it bother you. Coming from someone who sees it all the time, there are people who are strong enough to look past it, and there are those who are not. Those who are not go off, providing the reaction the antagonists were looking for. I find it sad that people would actually make fun of him because his glasses make his eyes look big, and that people would suggest that the situation must be escalated.

Not sure what you meant by "not to escalate the situation", because that is exactly what hurling insults back will accomplish. Who wins in that situation? No one.
