Re: An Eye Doctors On OS?
I'm actually an Optometrist. It all depends on his Rx. The prism isn't making his eyes look bigger it's the amount of hyperopia he has, and his prescription. Prism will make his eyes shift in the glasses, depending on where the apex of the prism is.Got a question for any eye doctors, or anyone who can relate to this question. My little brother is 14 and is far sighted, and has astigmatisms. His glasses also have a prism in them, which make his eyes appear larger than normal. He's constantly getting made fun of for it, is there any way he can get contacts? I would think he would be able to but knowing his glasses have a prism in them, has me wondering.
If he wants to control the size of his eyes in his glasses then I would suggest contact lenses. But contact lenses will not correct for the deviation he has that warrants the prism. He could still wear glasses over the contact lenses that would have the prism, and wouldn't cause his eyes to appear large. A little more expensive route, but probably the only option at this point to control the size of his eyes through his glasses.
I would highly steer clear of LASIK if someone is offering that. He is still too young, and it doesn't work well for hyperopia.
I hope this helps.Last edited by kt-od; 11-12-2010, 12:24 PM.Comment
