Heh, I actually lost 10 pounds my freshman year. The food at my college was horrible and I've never been to big on loading up on the junk food. You just need to stay away from the greasy stuff, find healthier alternatives for when you get the munchies, and be a regular at your schools fitness center.

Thanks. I have really not been going to the gym lately at my school (which is crazy because its really nice), and the fact that my school has a dining place dedicated to late night hours that is included in the meal plan. So bascially Im eating 4 meals a day. I wanna try to cut back on that as well. And of course the weekend festivities dont help either. I have to change lol

The Freshman 15 for me was the Freshman 1. Despite a crap ton of junk food and a daily dinner of 3 McChickens and a quart of chocolate milk, I gained one pound.

I gained 5 lbs my freshman year but lost it the following summer. My suggestion is to not eat after you drink alcohol. That seemed to be my problem. I would drink then over eat.

Whoa! Either you exercised a ton or you have a really good metabolism with those kind of eating habits.

Lol you suck JLinn! Yes jealous.

The freshman 15 for me turned into the freshmen 30 or so. I have no one to blame but myself but our cafeteria food was so bad that we ended up buying take away food most of the time (pizza hut, subway, McD's, KFC) and when you combine that with all the booze it was a recipe for fatness.

What sucked even worse was I shared a house with 3 other skinny dudes and we all ate the same stuff and drank together etc but i blew up like a whale and they all stayed pretty much the same and I probably did more exercise than the rest of them combined. My genetics bite the big one.

Kinda funny that now 10 years later I'm in better shape than all of those guys but it took me ages to lose it.

You have to at least be mindful of how much you are eating, pick healthier options when possible and try to participate in some regular sport because there's always heaps of that to choose from at college. Try to keep in mind that it's easy enough to put on but can be a real bitch to get it off again later.

Didn't gain weight at all as a freshman in college. Wasn't until my junior year that I actually felt the need to work out to be in decent shape.

JJLinn aren't you just a tiny guy to begin with? I doubt your metabolism would allow you to gain weight.

OP, you need to educate yourself on what you put into your body. Then go ahead and get involved in some intramural sports and lift/run more often.

Key to all this: still live your life at college. Just don't go out and binge drink 3 times a week..followed by a couple big slices of pizza.

Eat less and exercise more. Don't go cold turkey and cut out all the foods you love. Just eat it less and eat the healthier alternative whenever you can.

During the week I try to be good with my diet and the weekend I reward myself with bad food and food I like.

Staying active will help you lose weight, have more energy, sleep better, do better in school, and feel all around better.

Yeah, I've been in the 125-127 range since 8th grade, which was 6 years ago.

Just go run. If you are naturally healthy in weight you should be able to shed it pretty fast. Cut out the junk food. I have been VERY lazy and haven't ran in about a month, but I am so cheap I have no desire to buy the junk food that puts on the fat and this has kept me around my same weight.
