Who here has never owned or operated a "FILM" based camera? And , no, memory sticks do not count as film. lol. I'm wondering if I should throw in disposables also. We'll count them as their own topic so they don't count. You've strictly owned one or , not counting disposables, operated one.

Re: Curious question of the day

That seems like a rather random question.

Do video cameras count? If so, then yes. I own a Hi8 video camera that is 11 years old and doesn't work to well anymore. And yes, I've operated film based still picture cameras plenty of times though not in the past 10+ years.Steelers : IX, X, XIII, XIV, XL, XLIII

I've used film and disposable cameras for many a year. It kinda freaks me out that some things i've seen or used will be completely foreign to a lot of people 5-10 years from now.

 Hmmmm.... good idea.

Don't worry, you get used to it Not too old myself but I remember when the walkman first hit the scene and being a kid and my pops having an 8 track in the car. I remember when Benzi boxes was the thing to have in your ride. Not too old myself but I remember when the walkman first hit the scene and being a kid and my pops having an 8 track in the car. Still have them, all of them. Polaroids (actually two fully functional) and a 35mm Nikon that still takes outstanding pics but I do have digital as my workpiece now. The others just collect dust.Comment

Re: Curious question of the day

My grandma used to have a polaroid camera, don't know what ever became of it though. That also reminded me of a funny story. I was at my aunt and uncles cabin one summer and my grandma had also come up with us. Well, I was standing at the front door with my video camera videotaping a humming bird at a feeder when my grandma, who was sitting in a chair next to me, asked "How is that camera different from mine?"

Re: Curious question of the day

Uh oh, and now it begins. I've become "the old man". Back in the days car stereo thefts used to run rampant in New York. So you'd install what was known as a Benzi Box. Basically it was a housing around around a car stereo that allowed you to remove the whole unit leaving only an empty hole in it's place. Thieves had nothing to steal (unless it was your car they were after). It really became a brand name that wound up being the name for all the devices. Sorta like someone asking for a BandAid even though it may not be the actually brand "Band Aid".

Hey those old phones were built like tanks. My house phone now is practically done and is only a few years old. I wish I did have one of the old Bell phones right about now. Not cordless but lasts. Someone breaks into your home you call 911 and then hit him in the head with the phone. Cops come just in time to resuscitate him.Comment

It seems like a lot of new things don't last like they use to.
