    Re: Laptop or PS3?

My vote would be for the laptop as well. The laptop is a one-time purchase and it frees you both up from having to share.

The laptop doesn't need $40-60 food.

Just FYI: You can find blu rays for cheaper than their DVD counterparts. I quit paying more than $15 for blu rays 2 years ago. Unless it's black friday the best prices are almost always online.

I would go with the PS3 for a couple of reasons. One is from a dads point of view. My daughter and I spend more time playing together on the PS3. Laptop is cool and I have one for school but the PS3 gets more use by the whole family than the computers do. We play quite a few games together including "The Show". If you are not in school or have a job that would be easier with a laptop I would go with the PS3, in my opinion that is more practical from the family standpoint.

Second if you love baseball, there is no better game than "The Show". Buy it play love it, kiss you free time good-bye. Join the seething, fevered masses that eat, sleep ,dream "The Show". Seriously it is that good. I have only been playing it since 09 but this is one of the main reasons I bought a ps3.

Third is the whole Uncharted series. Do I really need to go further. With those four games not to mention the rest of the PS3 exclusives you really can't go wrong.

Well said. I would go PS3 with Uncharted 1 and 2 ASAP. Then hang on for the amazing ride that will be The Show.

I can't believe how many people in here have parents who don't buy them Christmas gifts anymore, lol. My brothers are 41 and 38, and I'm 28. My oldest brother also has two kids, and the middle broter has one on the way. My parents buy EACH of us (brothers, wives/gfs, grandkids) multiple gifts every year, and we all do the same for each other as well. Since when was there an age limit on buying each other things for Christmas??

You left out with a smokin' hot fiancee. Damn she's hot.

Anyway, you're in school right? I'd go with a laptop. I have a ps3 just for the show, and the ps3 is DEFINITELY WORTH IT for uncharted and the show...it's almost all I play. I hear the multiplatforms look better on 360, but still . I'd sell the 360 , deal with whatever the "slightly less perfect" graphics are, and then buy my own ps3, and have the parents get the laptop

Thanks for the kudo's but you need to rethink the wait idea of waiting for The Show 11. You really want this guy to wait 3 months to play the best game that has ever existed since the beginning of time, that is just mean. He can trade in 10 when 11 gets here, don't wait that is just wrong

                  Re: Laptop or PS3?

Man I'd be in a tough spot to chose too. But, if I didn't have a ps3, and knowing how I use it now, I'd go with the PS3. We use our PS3's for everything it was made for. Movies/Music/Games. Netflix, MLB TV. Wireless/ Free Online Gaming.

We even cancelled cable because no one ever watched it anymore. We have a large colelction of DVD's as well which is great considering it plays DVD's as well. Although with the added Blu-Ray functions we've stopped buying DVD's and went to Blu-ray because they always have a ton of seperate fun interactive stuff included.

A laptop would be great but we have a PC desktop that everyone uses just fine. Although my daughter would disagree...

Laptop Vote here... Laptops are pretty cool and the Online of the Ps3 isn't all cracked up what people say it is... However, You would probably score Brownie points with your wife Hahahaha.. Not just thinking of yourself.. You mentioned you will be getting a Ps3 in the future. So why not put a couple of bucks each month and buy a new Ps3 on your own with the new SHOW game that will come out in a few months..

I say go for the PS3. The Show is awesome and you'll definitely love playing it, but there is more than that with the PS3. You will learn the greatness of the two Uncharted games, plus all the other PS3 exclusives like inFamous, Resistance, Ratchet, ModNation Racers, the list goes on.

                          Re: Laptop or PS3?

So I get home tonight from work and fire up my 360 for the first time in about three weeks so I can watch a movie on Netflix with my wife, and there it was... The Red Ring of Death. What's so maddening about it I got my 360 back from Microsoft about a month ago due to my first Red Ring of Death.

That makes two RRoD's in less than two months.

                          I'm getting a PS3.

That story is just too perfect, lol. It sounded like you wanted a PS3 regardless and I was going to come in here and tell you to just go for the PS3, but it looks like you're decision is a lot easier now.

Yeah, it has made my decision an easy one. Two broken 360's in less than two months. What's crazy is I've played the "new" 360 that Microsoft sent me once or twice and it already crapped out. My brother just had his first RRoD experience as well.

I am looking forward to The Show, and I'll still have both systems since I'll be sending this 360 in as well.

The video game gods have spoken indeed.

It will be easy to convince my wife to get a laptop in the future... A PS3 would be a tougher endeavor, so I think this RRoD was a blessing in disguise.
