With the week of Christmas upon us, please don't forget those who cannot be home

Tomorrow starts the week of Christmas in which families and friends will start getting together to share memories, gifts, and love. Please as you celebrate the holiday, please don't forget those who cannot be home as they continue to serve and protect our great country and the liberties and freedoms we enjoy each and every day. And please not forget those families who are not whole this holiday season, due to a loved one serving. They too are making a great sacrifice.

For anyone who is sacrificing being with their family, who is sacrificing a loved one being overseas, or for those who have, have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

God Bless our troops, their families, and may he continue to bless the United States of America!

My dad is pretty much never home for Christmas (or any other holiday for that matter) and it doesn't look any different this year. Oh well, I've gotten used to it.

Great thread. My brother is a medical corps officer and is working at Walter Reed in DC right now doing is residency in preventative med. He isn't making it back for Christmas due to his work schedule but next Christmas it looks like he will be overseas somewhere.

Thanks to all who serve our country both home and abroad.

I never forget...

My bro is currently serving, and is in Germany. As a veteran myself, even though I didn't serve during wartime, I know what it's like to be away from family and friends during this time of year.

Whenever I feel I've had a bad day, I just think about our troops serving in some of the most hellish, God-forsaken places on Earth,where each day they wake up and realize it could be their last, and I quickly realize my problems are miniscule in comparison.

While we gripe about video games, somewhere a soldier is dodging bullets and IED's. Kinda puts things in perspective, doesn't it?

Anyway, thanks to them, and CB for recognizing them.

I'm so grateful for all that the troops do. It's unfortunate they can't be home with their families.
Not a day goes by that I don't pray for the safe return of our troops.
