Someone used my Debit Card
They didnt have my debit card but they used it today. I checked my online account and seen that debit purchase for 42 dollars was spent at Bestbuy, I never went to bestbuy tho. I went to work at 2 am came home at 10 slept till 5, hopefully I can get the bank to reimburse me the money spent. This sucks.PSN - SwangKang169

I'm happy to say I have no virtue, no scruples, and no desire to wait too long for anything. In my humble opinion instant gratification takes too long!

Re: Someone used my Debit Card
Go to any restaurants recently? Make any online transactions?
Sadly, it's not that uncommon for a waiter to steal your info and purchase something using it. Apparently someone did that earlier this year where I work.
Also, get BB to get the shipping address the person used with your debit card.Twitter

Re: Someone used my Debit Card
So they used it in store? That means they would have had to make a card with your info on it.Comment

Re: Someone used my Debit Card
How did they use your card if you have it then? They'd have to swipe it to use it..Twitter

Re: Someone used my Debit Card
Visa has a no liability agreement with your bank (assuming your debit card is Visa).
Call your bank to dispute the charge. This will sound dumb but EXPLICENTLY exlpain to whoever you talk to that you acknowledge you have been making purchases with your card throughout this timeframe and that you believe your card number has been used to create a fraudulent duplicate card.
PM with any questions. I work for a bank.
Edit: To the previous responses, it unfortunately doesn't have to have been his card that was used...Fraudulent cards can be recreated...Last edited by kehlis; 12-26-2010, 11:50 PM.Comment

Call your bank immediately to have the card number blocked (assuming there is no chance no one else could have used it).Comment

Called the chase number they gave on the website, the lady canceled my debit card number and they will be sending out a new one. Still got to go to the bank tomorrow to get this straightened out.PSN - SwangKang169

Re: Someone used my Debit Card
You still have to show the card used.
It could be an error by the bank, they do make mistakes, but unlikely.
It could be a fake card, but someone only spending $40, don't think so.
Most likely someone has your # and went to their friend that works at Best Buy and had them ring it up. They rang it up as credit and punched in the #s.
Get the transaction # from your Bank and go take to the owner of the Best Buy. Let him know you have at the very least cashiers that aren't checking the IDs match the credit card. If that isn't the case, they have someone allowing fraud to go on in their store.Comment

Re: Someone used my Debit Card
I'll share a sad story with you guys just to let you know that what Shorty experienced isn't a stand alone instance.
I had a customer once who had spent her entire life on the east coast in the Maryland area, she had no family anywhere else and had never traveled further West than Ohio.
She called me one day because over a three day weekend she had 1500 pulled out of her checking account at an ATM in California (good thing we have daily lmits).
Some here are dimissing this but believe me, it does happen, I have seen it too many times.
Be careful with the MAC machines you use and with online purchases you make. Trust me...Comment

Re: Someone used my Debit Card
I had my debit card used for online purchases a few years ago in the amount of $2,500.00. The person went on a shopping spree buying all kinds of things from sporting event tickets to electronics online.
I know someone at the bank so I just had to cancel the card and fill out some forms. The money was eventually deposited back into my account.
I was sooooo pissed at the time and am very glad it worked out."You got it man. I don't watch hockey." SidVish"I thought LeBron James was just going to be another addition to help me score."
