Just curious, what is grounds for calling off of work?

I'm pretty sick with allergies, but I don't have a fever nor am I throwing up...

I called out today with severe heartburn, a few spells of dry heaving, some dizziness and feeling run down.

Granted, I work at a restaurant and not an office or anything like that, so it might be different. Generally people don't want sick people serving them food, even with no real fever (my temp was 96.2 when I took it this morning, which seems to be around where I usually am).

In these instances I am usually sneezing so bad that it's only plain obvious I go home, that along with having to blow my nose every 30 seconds it only amplifies the need.

In other instances a nice itchy watery eye can easily be turned into a case of pink eye and that is almost an automatic ticket out everytime.

Well, if you have PTO that you've earned, don't have a huge pile of work, and it won't put coworkers in a bad spot, call in if you're not feeling good.

However, I had terrible allergies last week and didn't miss any work. So take an Alavert or Claritin (they are the same thing and work like a charm), and stop pulling a LeQuit.

The problem isn't really sneezing, just the blowing of the nose. And the head ache. And the sore throat. And the coughing.

lol, I've already taken my Allergy medication *claritin* and it's not doing a dang thing...

BTW, it's retail...if that makes any difference.

Man, Beantown, you might wanna get yourself checked out. Those symptoms are pretty scary and can lead to an eventual heart problem.

I felt like that on Monday. Partied all day Sunday with the wife and a bunch of close friends we hadn't seen in a about a year. I was hungover in the worst way.

Well that sucks. And no, it doesn't. Claritin is fully OTC now, although it contains pseudoephidrine, so they make you feel like a drug addict when you buy it. Had to swipe my driver's license.

Sounds like it might be more than allergies if it's not working and it has in the past.

The whole getting old and hangovers lasting a full day thing is complete bull**** if you ask me.

Wow, it feels like old times in OT right now. Dammit, Speedy, get reinstated if you're reading this.

If I'm hungover after drinking yesterday (and never even feeling drunk - had three Crown and cokes, a Bud Light, and a Jack and Coke)....****, my tolerance would be very low.

Yeah I quit using Claritin, it's worthless to me. I use algera now and so far it's been great. Gets rid of my symptoms and non-drowsy. Win.

Yeah no ****! I'm not usually hung over anymore, but in the rare occasion I am it usually takes at least a full day to fully recover.

24 hour Claritin that you get behind the counter works the best for me. I don't even mess with the stuff on the shelf. Luckily, I haven't had to take it much this allergy season.
