    Re: Off Topic 2011

Yesterday my university sent me an email inviting me to take one course about human figure drawing, I thought it was interesting and important to me because I need to improve my drawing skills so decided to sign in. Today some people of the university told our class that the first class begins on Wednesday and that the course will have live naked models, actuall people know will pose nude for us to draw. My first reaction was like WTF, it was what I was thinking when I read the email. I'm having second thought about this, I would feel uncomfortable and awkward, I'm a shy person that can have difficulties trying to watch someone in their eyes so I imagine myself having trouble with this. My friends convinced me to assist the course because it'll be very important to our careers and also they will also be there, so I'll go, give it a try and see if I can be able to get over my shame and assist and aprove the course.

If you're an artist, you've got to do it. Not for the nudity or whatever, but it can help shape your drawing of the human form and improve yourself.

Never stop improving yourself. If you've got to look at some dong to do it, well, dammit, you better look at some dong.

I wouldn't worry about it, if it's some beautiful girl, it's not like she's waving it in your' face.. she knows why she's there.

            How long is that drive?
I live 3 minutes from the New York border and 45 minutes from Albany, NY. I mean literally I drive 4 blocks make a left, go 2 blocks, make a right to the on ramp, drive a mile and I am over the New York border.

              Ahhh gotcha.

Don't know why I was thinking you were going to drive all the way to the City for it and wasn't thinking about that part of NY.

                Re: Off Topic 2011

OK...it's gonna be a bit long...it's more like a new thread that was pasted into a "short" post here...

Has it ever happened to anyone here, that you missed a previous job? I mean really miss it! When I found a new job in 2008, at first it seemed ok. Then, after a couple of days, I found myself missing every second the previous job (actually previous-previous job, since it was 2 years before that and I had another job afterwards), actually imagining what I would be doing there at the same time that I was sitting at the new place. After 6 months I just couldn't take that job anymore and quit (it was terrible for me, I felt every day as if it was my first day...and no, it wasn't a good thing if you happened to think this way). Some would say, I didn't give it a chance. But I wasn't the only one. Sure, there were the guys who had been working there for years, but I also remember a couple of people leaving after a week or 2...

Anyway, when I moved to Canada and found my first job here, it was pretty good! I didn't like the owner so much (and it can be bad if it's a VERY small company where the owner is pretty much everything, even if you have a semi-supervisor as well). At the time I thought I need to find a new job, but then again I liked what I was doing so much, also liked the area and the guys, that I actually wondered if I could stay there longer than I had thought.

After 7 months I was laid off (due to shortage of work, which was obvious if I was getting the signals - but I didn't). I had 2 other jobs after that (well, actually more like a job and a half)...but it was today that I had my first day at the brand new place - which is in the same area as that place I loved. And something there kinda reminds me of that old place, even though it's just a bit bigger and I do a bit different things. But going there and going back - the way is like 95% the same way. I missed driving there so much! Who would have thought?! It's just a regular road and like-any-other area, but I love it. Especially in the winter, I love the atmosphere there in the winter. I hope all goes well with this new job, I gotta stay there for a long time. Funny, there are some older people there who have been working there for 15-20 years. I believe most people there have been working there 5+ years (a bunch of them over 10 years).

                  <!-- / message -->

Oh no.......NYC itself is a 3 1/2 hour drive from my house. Boston is 4 hour drive, Montreal, Quebec is a 4 hour drive.
Syracuse, NY is 3 hour drive.
Saratoga Springs is a 90 minute drive.
New Hampshire is a 90 minute drive.
Maine is 3 1/2 hours drive.
Buffalo, NY is a 6 hour drive, upstate New York is WIDE.

Good thing about upstate New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine is that is some areas the speed limit is 65, some areas it is 70. Within the major cities, 55mph, but it isn't that many major cities, majority towns and small cities.

Not the job itself, but some of my previous co-workers yeah and like you, I miss some of the scenery I use to drive past when I worked in those places. Kind of funny I use to be able to tell when I was 10 minutes away just by passing a certain tree that was looked a little bit different then the surrounding trees.

Heck I even named that tree and use to say hi to it everyday. Weird I know.
