Re: Off Topic 2011
Same...this is the 3rd straight semester I've signed up for classes and had to drop them because of the inept financial aid offices.Comment

Re: Off Topic 2011
I make 33k a year and a school awarded me an aid package that covers full cost of attendance...I also have good grades, and am 29 so I've built up a resume and recommendations. But I don't think that matters when the school has a 96% acceptance rate, except I might raise the average GPA.
I also got a pretty healthy award from UW who rejected 4 out of every 5 transfer applicants.
Plus, I'm getting a 2k scholarship from church, and I think I can talk them into converting it to a personal check heheheComment

Re: Off Topic 2011
So I was playing my Pitt dynasty on NCAA12, #!2 Pitt at #3 Virginia Tech. It was pretty much a slugfest for the first 3 quarters with my defense utterly dominating the Hokies and I was up 10-0 going into the 4th. Well, as dominant as my D had been for the first 3 quarters, they became equally incompetent in the 4th as VT marched down the field to score 2 TD's and take a 14-10 lead with 0:41 left. I had a decent return on the ensuing kickoff wiped out by a holding call (go figure), but then for like the first time ever the game decided that I would be able to pass and I marched down the field to score a TD and take a 17-14 lead with 0:10 left then clinched the game when their QB threw an INT on the first play from scrimmage after the ensuing kickoff.Steelers : IX, X, XIII, XIV, XL, XLIII

Re: Off Topic 2011
My situation got kinda screwed up...last summer I started out taking two classes at Bloom U, but had to drop one of them because I couldn't afford the book. They didn't tell me this at the time, but that screwed up my financial aid eligibility because at BU you have to take a certain amount of credits per calendar year to qualify. So here I am on the first day of classes last fall semester, they call me and tell me I owe like $3,700 in 3 days and the only thing I could do was to send in an appeal letter and maybe get my aid back. Appeal denied, classes dropped. Same thing happened in the spring.
Fast forward to now...I got into a 2 year program at a local community college. When I went to register for classes, I specifically asked them if I had done everything necessary to get financial aid.
"Did you fill out the FAFSA form?"
"Yeah"
"Then you should be all set"
Then two weeks ago, I get a call saying I cannot get financial aid because I didn't fill out a form I was never told about. The form is ridiculous/unnecessary, because all it asks you to do is list your major, what semester you're trying to get money for, and if you want to apply for a Stafford Loan or not (so in other words, everything the FAFSA form asks you). So I have to wait until spring again. And this time it messed up my loan deferments from my previous semesters at Bloomsburg because I listed late August as the date assuming I would be enrolled in classes. Meh.Comment

Yes, but remember that game still had its glitches and the expectation vs. reality is much lower in that type of game.
The idea that games in general are somehow more bug-filled and less fun now because the ability to patch is false IMO. It's the expectations that have risen. Not the ability and motivation of game programmers decreasing.
I disagree. I put in a game and play it. I don't come to OS looking for a glitch unless I find one playing. I've found way more this gen than the previous gen. Like someone else said, I think it has more to do w/ developers knowing if something is screwed up, they can just send out a path or DLC.Originally posted by MoJust once I'd like to be the one they call a jerk off.Originally posted by MoYou underestimate my lazinessOriginally posted by Mo**** ya

BUT.......I'm gonna say they pump more money into games nowadays too, doesn't uncharted 3 have like a billion dollar budget? NCAA: I change DRob's wristband and he's a pocket QB. Madden 10, safeties don't know they're the last line of defense. WWE11, you get like a 10 second win. These are bugs I don't see how they get past testings. Games this gen look tons better. But there's a reason I still play my old xbox w/ over 20 games, and it's not b/c of the graphics.Originally posted by MoJust once I'd like to be the one they call a jerk off.Originally posted by MoYou underestimate my lazinessOriginally posted by Mo**** ya

Re: Off Topic 2011
They definitely realize there's a safety net there. There's no way some of these games would've ever seen the light of day in their conditions without the ability to be patched. The fallout games come to mind. Brilliant games, but were horrifically buggy on release. For example, a game Total War: Shogun 2 shipped without anti aliasing or directx 10 and 11 support even though Anti aliasing has been standard in PC games for years and years, and it was supported in earlier titles. A patch was released a few months later even though it should've have been supported in the release. They're definitely not ignorant to the fact they can let some things slide, as people realize that it'll get fixed, eventually, and that's usually good enough.-Ohio State-
