Basically like the above video, stay at the perimeter of the store mostly. Most things in the middle, processed garbage. Tasty, but not healthy.

Some good sites here with easy to make healthy recipes... I personally steam a LOT of my lunches and dinners on my current program.

Thanks for the post. I'm excited to get the thing. Should come today.

I'm actually sick right now, just started feeling bad yesterday and today it hit me. I'm planning on going and getting some Vit-C fruits and making a drink tomorrow.

I've never actually heard of Kale before - but reading up on it, it sound like super-spinach, which is good because I'd been planning on using spinach recipes.

I'll give that green recipe a good, soon, too. I'm mostly going to stick to Target for my veggies, so I'll have to pop by and see what they have available.

        Weigh in this evening... 227lbs.

That is down from 245 when I started this dieting and training (5 weeks ago). All lean gains, packed a nice bit of muscle... shed a lot of fat. 18lb net drop.

Keeping at it... target weight, 200-205lbs.

Starting to feel my metabolism kicking in to overdrive... and incorporating CrossFit is creating great brain and muscle function.

If anyone is reading over this thread and isn't sure they can make the changes needed to get fit, if you're a gamer (which we all are here right?), you can do it.

Why gamers are a great fit at the gym

While the article isn't exactly in the vein of OS, it's close enough and if it convinces one person to give the gym a try, I'll be happy.

            Today's weigh in... 223lbs

Got off the slight plateau that hit for about 2 weeks, and now it is burning off again!

              WHEW!

This mean green has a kick.

I cut the ingredients in half to make less (and so it's not so expensive and I can make more later) and added carrot and cut the ginger (it was like $4.99 at Target).

It's got a kick for sure, it smells great and I felt good making it. It made about 15oz. I may have used too much Kale - because it was bagged and cut already, they didn't have it whole because they were out, so I couldn't tell how much to use. It's a strong one!

I bought some stuff last night to make a nice big salad to eat on throughout the week:

                Baby spinach leaves
                Fresh romaine lettuce
                Tomatoes
                Red pepper
                Green pepper
                onion
                Cucumbers
                Carrots

Going to be nom nom nom tonight.

Woot finally hit 200lbs on atg squats this morning!

Still weak as crap compared to a bunch of people in the gym but I learnt a long time ago there's no point comparing myself to others. It's all about doing the best that you can do day in and day out and the results will come...

                    Congrats mate!

And you are correct... there will always be someone bigger, faster, and stronger. It is how you feel about yourself and who you are that matters.

Thanks! Yeah I may never be the biggest or strongest person in the world but I'm sure as hell going to be a leaner, more muscular and stronger version of myself and that's all that matters to me.

The wifey said "wow you are really getting muscly" yesterday which was a nice compliment. I do see some changes in the mirror but you know how it often seems to take forever and it's hard to notice much progress so its nice when someone else notices that's for sure.

Since the food thread made a resurgence I thought maybe we could also share some healthier recipes in this section. Personally I'm looking for quick stuff and maybe some good slow cooker recipes that can cook while I'm at work. If there are already recipes in this thread I apologize and I'll go back through the entire thread and find them.

One thing I do to spice up canned tuna is put some old bay in it which is a seafood seasoning with different kinds of spices in it. I've tried just putting mustard in and that's pretty nasty but I can force myself to eat it if I need to.

I was almost wondering if someone should start a "health recipes / juicing" thread.

It'd be nice to have a central place with that stuff.

On that note - I made a 3 Carrot, 2 Mc Intosh Apple, 5 leaves of Spinach with some ice juice today. It was really good.

I'm considering getting some apples - like Mc Intosh, Granny Smith, Gala and mixing them all together and then heating it up in a crock pot and making some hot apple cider type juice - toss in a cinnamon stick with each cup.

I wonder if it'd be any good.

Down from 188 to 179.4 since Septemebr 27 when I decided to stop drinking beer. My years of excessive beer drinking and I'm lucky to have only hit 188. Got a bit of a gut still left, but come December when it's time to graduate.. I WILL be 160-165 pounds no beer gut.

Had a question. what's the healthiest oil to cook with? I've heard coconut oil is, but it has alot of saturated fat and not enough monounsaturated. can anyone shed some light on this? thanks!
