I've spoken with a mother who did not know how to spell her child's name.

    100% dead serious

I think is was something like Nastartasia...

And the problem is they're out breeding the rest of us. Natural selection has been made mostly irrelevant by Technology, in fact it's almost been reversed. The people who's genetics would've been weeded out, are actually multiplying faster than ever.

I've gotten a number of page a day medical blooper calenders and have seen a number of absurd ones involving parents naming their kids. Some examples that I remember include

          - Placenta
          - Lemonjello and Oranjello (siblings, may have been twins)
          - Urine (pronounced "your-ee-nee". I think the mothers explanation was something like the baby wa premature and had been in the NICU for some time and one of the nurses had placed a sign on the inubator that read "please save urine" (for urinalysis).
          - Nosmo - The families surname was King and there was a No Smoking sign right outside the door of the mothers hospital room.

Hit the nail on the head. And we wonder why great civilizations and societies crumbled in the past.

This story is crazy, but there seems to be key aspects missing. Why the hell are there so many in that county in particular? What kind of games are they playing at lunchtime? Why are condoms not being shipped to this town?

I lived in the Memphis area for a decade and lived most of my life in the Mississippi Delta area. The whole area is a pit. No one is teaching abstinence. Say what you will, bit passing out condoms isn't working. In Memphis and where I live now (Birmingham) Syphilis and Gonorrhea are at an epidemic. The drop out rates in both cities are at 50%. To use a commonly used phrase, it's a self perpetuating cycle. Until someone breaks it, nothing changes.

Parents need to initiate the change. In the end, everyone has a choice, but parents can steer that vehicle of change.

Honestly if more schools nationwide PUBLICLY released their school pregnancy data you would find this problem is more wide spread nationwide. However well off towns and cities don't release their data because they want to protect their "IMAGE".

Then you just have that cycle of kids having kids basically. And tv shows like 16 and pregnant or Teenage Moms that they show on MTV really isn't helping the problem either.

Sexual education really isn't taught thorough enough in schools either. When I was in high school it was taught freshman year for 2 weeks and that was it. They passed out out some pamphlets, talked for some hours and that was it.

That is the problem right there. You have old fashioned parents who think such talk is inappropriate in schools. And always want to protest stuff.

You can teach abstinence, but doing it alone does not help. Telling kids to just not have sex is like telling a fatty, "dont eat Cheeseburgers". But you are absolutely right, the best way to prevent your kid from having a baby is by being a good parent. Some kids will still have sex and get preggo but it would lower the amount of cases.

Perhaps we are going about it the wrong way though, instead of teaching Abstinence or handing out Condoms, what we should be doing is giving away (lets see, how can I say this without getting a infraction) Marital pleasure aids.
