Re: OS Cars Thread
Didn't want to start a new thread.. So I'll ask here..
Any recommendations on new tires for a Lexus GS300?
It's rear wheel drive and honestly, the first and only vehicle that has scared me when driving in the snow.
So I'm looking for a tire to help with traction as much as possible.
I've only bought Goodyear, but recently I started sour on them since the last tires I bought weren't so great.
Any opinions on Continental? or how about the bigger name brands like Michelin, Bridgestones, etc?Comment

I know the street, and I'm making all the right connections. With the right woman, there's no stopping me. I could go right to the top."

Re: OS Cars Thread
In the next couple of months I will be purchasing a new car. Inevitably whatever I'm interested in (narrowed it down to 2 cars after some research - no test drives yet though) I feel like black is the best looking color.
However, I've always heard black vehicles are a pain to maintain because they show dirt (and scratches) so easily. Still, I feel like a black car after a fresh wash and that oil mirror reflection is hard to beat.
I've done a small bit of research into maintaining and wash care for black vehicles, but I was wondering if you guys would have any words of wisdom, product recommendations, or try to steer me completely way from black paint as a good option.

With that said, yes they are a pain to keep clean. I don't really have many recommendations. When we first got the car we would take it through a wash about once a week and have it detailed about once a month. Now that we've had it for four years it's way less than that, but it still looks great.... even when it's a little dusty. My 2K17 Boston Celtics MyLeague

Re: OS Cars Thread
If possible, hand wash it using the two bucket method. I personally hand wash my car just about every week (I have a White Volkswagen GTI, traded my Veloster Turbo a couple of months ago for and it's such an awesome car). So far I've been using the Gold Class car wash soap, a mitt, and dry with a few microfiber towels. For the tires I use a gel and occasionally I will detail the rubber and plastic trims on the exterior. With applying soap and drying, use back and forth motions. It'll minimize fine scratches (which are inevitable over time, but that's what a compound is for down the line).
Black definitely does look sharp when it's fresh out of a wash and looks fantastic after detailing. My Veloster was black, but I didn't really have the resources to take care of it as well as I wanted.Comment

Re: OS Cars Thread
So I don't know how many of y'all are old enough to remember Dallas back in the 70's/80's, but I found a red Mercedes 450SL that is Bobby Ewing's convertible. It looks in amazing condition. Getting more info from the guy but it seems like a steal for what he's asking so I'm wondering if it needs some work under the hood at all. The price isn't "too good to be true" but definitely in the affordable range for a nearly 40-year old car that couldn't have been taken out for more than weekend drives for the life of the car. It may help that he lives in the middle of nowhere Iowa and you aren't going to get attention without pricing it reasonably.
Hopefully he comes back with some good info and I'll make the drive over to see it.Comment

Re: OS Cars Thread
A few months back my old beater crapped out and broke a timing sprocket. It wasn't worth fixing (Cavalier with almost 200k on it, had been wrecked and fixed, got it in a horse trade with cash for a 4wd Jeep, drove it for 4yrs)
Had bought my wife a Buick Rendezvous a yr ago or so, and was just randomly searching that Keyword when this popped up on Craigslist.
Buick Rainier. Turned out to have the 5.3 in it. I was hooked. Interior was perfect, small scratches and paint chips/swirls on exterior and a broken 3rd brake light molding. Guy tried to jack me around on the price after I showed up to buy it, but I walked away paying exactly what I had discussed originally. Is a bit of a gas hog, but has great power and it's loaded. Even came with built in XM
Gotta free set of basically new tires for it (I'm a parts guy, got some friends at diff shops around town.) Love it all around.

Re: OS Cars Thread
I test drove a WRX Premium this morning. Considering my daily driver for the past 11 years has been a Kia Spectra5 it was quite an experience. A very positive experience. Shifting and feeling that turbo kick in is magical.
My other consideration was an Accord Sport but I quickly forgot about it. I had done a lot of reading and research, but none of the negatives really mattered while I was driving. Sure, it may not have all the fancy bells abs whistles compared to other cars around its MSRP, but a lot of that is fluff to me anyway.
Long story short I put down a deposit and will consider it over the weekend. Most likely I will have a new car by Wednesday evening.

Re: OS Cars Thread
WRX man. I've owned an STI for 6 years and I loved almost every minute of it. I did blow a turbo but that's my dumb *** racing it before it got warmed up.
My brother in law has the new WRX you're looking into and he can't shut up about it and it looks bad ***.
It's by far the funnest car i drove and if you just add a couple things like an exhaust and maybe tune for better gas mileage and performance it will sound like a beast and be so fun to drive for years to come. That rumble just gets me every time i turn it on. I can't wait to make some money on this resort so I can buy a new one.Last edited by RockinDaMike; 08-28-2016, 01:24 AM.Comment

The sales guy backed it out of the spot and that rumble when he started it up got me.

Re: OS Cars Thread
It's been about two years of wanting, waiting, and saving but I finally have a new car.
My daily driver for the past twelve years has been a 2005 Kia Specta5. Going to a WRX is a bit of an adjustment, but I'm loving it so far. The biggest adjustment has to be all the computer parts now packed in. It's a bit overwhelming at first.
I was finally able to give her a bath this morning. Had her reflection nice and clear.
