    Re: OS Cars Thread

Just picked this up last night:

    2010 Mazda3s HB

Anyone know a good place to find parts/accessories? Looking to do a bit of upgrading but not sure where to look.

      I have a good friend who has a 2011 Mazda 3 Speed,

He's only done some exhaust work and a new air intake, but man that thing is fast. The interior is awesome and It's fun to drive.

I under estimated it myself, even knowing it's turbocharged. It would give my SS one hell of a race, and I've made several mods to it.

I can ask if he's got any websites he would suggest and let you know.

The Speeds are niiice, unfortunately I can't drive a stick. I'll learn someday.

If your friend has any places he suggests checking out, that'd be great. I'm not going to do too much to it right away, but that won't stop me from looking!

My wife drives a 2009 Mazda 3 and it's an awesome little car. She has owned 3 Mazda's in her life and has literally never had any sort of fault or anything go wrong on any of them.

I was thinking of a Mazda CX9 for my next car as we need something bigger with a growing family:

            Re: OS Cars Thread

I'm beginning to poke around the car market now; the minivan I drive is now on its second transmission, it already was on its second engine, the rest of the parts have 245k+ miles on them, and I am fortunate enough to now be in a position of having steady income (I'm not "making bank" as it were, but I make enough).

If the company weren't out of business, one car I'd be at-least interested in is the Saturn Sky Red Line, though that opinion is mostly based on the fact that it's a reasonably-priced sporty car. Something of that ilk would be more of an indulgent purchase, though; people close to me are telling me to look at Hondas such as the Civic and Accord.

So I ask OS: is it worth it to get a car you want vs something more practical? Any experience with this decision yourself? Advice? Any first-new-car recommendations? Am I completely stupid for liking the Sky Red Line? Haha.

What's the point in paying for something, if you don't enjoy it or even want it ?

You can't always get the car you want. If I could, I would've gotten an Acura MDX. Couldn't afford it. My first car purchase was a 2008 Toyota Camry. You can drive those things up to 300k miles with no problems. If I hadn't totaled it year before last, I'd still be driving it now.

My mom had a CX-9, it's been super reliable, she's put a ton of miles on it. Nice car, IMO. Those Mazda engines are rock solid.

You are young and single, if there was ever a time to ignore practicality, this is it.

Some of us are married with children and still ignore practicality. We may stay in more trouble with the wife but it's more fun than being practical.

Agreed. See my 350z purchase a few years ago.

Lol my only concern with buying one is that it's a classic 'soccer mom's' car but when you are looking at a bigger 4wd for a family you could say the same about most of them I suppose.

You don't get the Infiniti's out there do you? I am loving the new JX model. That may replace my EX when the time comes.

The girlfriend and I are discussing purchasing a new car. Right now this is where we're at, I want this car (actual car):

                              It's a 09 with around 30k miles.

She wants a 2012 Nissan Rogue (not the actual car. color is undetermined at this time):

A new Rogue cost a few thousand less than the FX35. However, since the Infiniti is used and three years old, then I could probably get them to come down on the price. Thoughts?

The Rogue is basically a smaller Murano. I haven't ridden in one since 2008 but I felt awfully cramped in it. Nice car for the price. It's a nice car, it just felt a little to economy and small to me. You're gonna get big time reliability with it. All the Nissan's and Infinti's I have now owned, I haven't had to take them in to the shop once, other than for scheduled maintenance.

The Infiniti is obviously going to be more luxurious. It's going to be a heck of a lot more fun to drive, and Infinti's service is superior to Nissan.

I love the FX, but if it's high mileage, the service on those as they age can get pretty pricey.

How mant miles does the FX have and how big is the price difference? Have you driven the Rogue yet?
