What do you guys think about Mazdas? I just saw this post, so I'm just wondering if they are as good as cars as Toyotas or Hondas.

But that price, though... You should be able to find much better.Comment

Re: OS Cars Thread
Seriously? I thought it was a good deal. Wow.
So what would the right amount of mileage be for a 7,000 dollar car.
I guess I'm a noob for thinking that was a pretty good car deal.
Hopefully I could get more tips out of this thread.PSN: MajorJosephxComment

Re: OS Cars Thread
I think it varies on location.
Here in Cali that would be a good deal for that Mazda3. Impossible to find a 50k miles car for $7000.
He's asking kbb very good value. Always try and pay fair value.Comment

Re: OS Cars Thread
Depends on the car. My Acura TL-S has 90K on it with a kelly blue value over $15k. The first scheduled tune up for my car isn't until I hit 100K miles. I imagine I could get 300K miles out of it easily.Comment

Re: OS Cars Thread
I went to the dealership today to have it checked out, and they offered an oil consumption test which I kindly declined. The test is composed of 2 phases, phase 1 consists of them changing the oil and then I drive the car around 700-800 miles. And then I come back for phase 2, which consists of me leaving the car at the dealership for a whole week. And the service manager said that at most, they would find something wrong with it and have to change the piston rings for $2,000...
So I guess Audi's usually use up all their oil every 3-5,000 miles. Mine is around 3.5K, which is borderline...
My car is at 37,000 miles but it's already out of warranty. I'm somewhat contemplating trading it in next year for a Honda or something like that. I like the 2013 Accords. I know it would suck changing from German engineering to Japanese engineering though.
Matt....
No way.
Something else is wrong.
No car "uses up" any oil if everything is working correctly.
I have an A4....and S5 and had an A6 and A5 and I barely need to do anything except change the oil on my A4(primary vehicle) that has 130,000 miles on it.
Check it out thoroughly.

But the problem itself is unsettling because it's really only at about 37,000 miles and I bought it with around 23,000 miles...Comment

Re: OS Cars Thread
A lot is depending on the type of car (obviously), mileage, accident history, condition..etc. I'd be more concerned on any accidents and where the accidents where instead of mileage.Comment

Re: OS Cars Thread
Look for some advice on my situation...
I currently own a 2005 Nissan Altima 2.5 with 145k miles on it. The cat converter needs to be replaced. I just had the breaks and struts done at 130k miles plus new tires. There are some solid scratches on the exterior and the interior isn't great (the cover/arm rest of the center console was so damaged I completely removed it). It's no prize. KBB says anywhere between $2,200 and $3k for trade in value. Anyone know if dealerships honor those KBB estimates? Am I better off selling it and then using that money towards a new car?
I'm looking at the 2013 Accord. I'll probably put $3k down plus the trade in/cash from selling the Altima."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

In my experience, they don't. However, you can haggle with them until they give you the desired amount. If you go to the dealership on the last day of the month, they'll be anxious to close deals and will most likely give you what you're asking for. I would start off by asking for $3 or $4k, then go from there.Last edited by ScoobySnax; 01-09-2013, 10:01 PM.Originally posted by J. ColeFool me one time that's shame on you.
