If you weren't all the way in Texas, I'd seriously consider taking that Dog off of you as opposed to putting it down or just setting it free to roam the streets on it's own.

But yea, hopefully putting it down is the last and final option that you have to do.

Right, cause while the dog is being trained you leave it with the children

Give it back to your parents. If they don't take it then force it on them. It's not your dog, so you shouldn't have to endure all this stress over it.

Of course, that's easier said than done, however. It's a bad situation.

That's exactly what I've done. I have offered to build the dog an outside enclosure so they don't have to alter their open door/open gate lifestyle. I honestly never had any real inclination to put the dog down, it's just what all these vets and dog professionals were filling my head with.

right..... thats what I implying by that pic. Go ahead, take the chance, b/c the dog is THAT important and explaining to your teenage daughter that you were thinking of getting rid of the dog when she was 3, but it was trained and you thought she was safe, "so that's why you have scars on your face and arm, honey. "

You're right, let's not give the dog ANY chance to be trained at all, because it is an absolute certainty that it will maul a child. There is absolutely no way to make sure the child is not in any danger with the dog, either

That would mean more if this was the dog's first chance and he didn't have small children.

                  Priorities....

                  1. children
                  2. children
                  3-50. children
                  51. puppies (the ones that have a chance to be properly trained from the start)

5000. dog with history of attacking people that has already been given multiple chances

Alright, this has become a pissing contest now.

OP, best of luck with the dog and I hope it works out no matter the route you take.
