    Re: Hot Sauce

I don't see how you guys use Sriracha on everything. I want a hot sauce that compliments the food, not overpower it. Louisiana is good because it's hot, but compliments the flavor of chicken and fish.

It's like people who pour old bay on their food. I want Old Bay to spice it up, not become one of the flavors.

Sriracha is barely even hot. You're probably one of those people that think Cholula is too hot.

      It tastes like ketchup.

Regular Tabasco is hotter then Sriracha.

No, it's just too much like a liquified pepper. No flavor at all.

I feel really sick right now. This hurts so bad. My brother-in-law is a hot pepper freak. He was able to get a few pickled Bhut Jolokia peppers from a grower here in the states. I know that these are the hottest peppers on the planet, and for me even a habanero pepper makes me incredibly uncomfortable and unable to breathe. Anyway, just to say I tried one I went and ate a very small piece of one. A piece about half the size of my pinky nail. It's a very flavorful pepper, and it starts out not so bad. I should have known that wouldn't last long. Very quickly, the heat level built up and my mouth started to produce saliva at such levels that it was flowing out of my mouth. I suddenly felt VERY warm and started to profusely sweat. I swallowed the pepper piece and the heat just kept building and building and building. When I thought it was intolerable, it still kept going. It was quite scary since I had no idea how bad it was going to get. At least with a habanero pepper, I know when it will peak. This thing just didn't seem to want to peak!

I took a look at my tongue in the mirror and it was mottled. You could see each individual taste bud it seemed. Yet, the pain was growing. I actually started having trouble breathing. I tried to drink some heavy cream since that is high in fat and is cold and soothing, and it only helped minimally. After a good ten minutes of utter hell, however, the pain did subside to the point where I could stand up and function again. I am still sweating profusely, however, and this is after driving home from my parents' house. My stomach is just really sore right now and I have a feeling I'm going to scream like a little girl when this bugger comes out of me tomorrow. Yes, I can say I tried a Bhut Jolokia, but that was one of the dumbest things I've ever done.
You know, they use those chilis to make pepper spray...Yikes!

If I was Wierd Al, I am sure I could make a parody song about this to LA woman....

Ate a little Pepper about an hour ago.......

Sounds brutal. I remember my boss gave me a really tiny pepper and he told me to be careful with it because it was one of the hottest peppers around. the pepper was about the size of my pinky. So I put it in my jacket pocket.

I forgot about it. Next day some dude hands out cigars because he had a baby boy. I put the cigar in my pocket. Fast forward to Saturday and I'm going to a poker game. Thought what the hell and grabbed the cigar. I went to light it and was puffing on the end of it........AHHHHHHHH........ WTF!!!!!!

My lips and mouth were on fire. The cigar must have absorbed the pepper. It took me a while to figure out what it was. I thought it was some heinous trick cigar until I remembered the pepper.

I tossed the pepper and washed the jacket.

I love Franks, not necessarily because its hot (it really isn't) but I like the flavor.

I just tried Sriracha for the first time today and I think it may have changed my life forever, perfect amount of hot and still a great flavor, I think I can pretty much see myself using this on anything from now on, love it.

I agree Sriracha isn't overly hot, it's spicy enough to liven up most foods though, the few things I've tried it all I haven't disliked any.

I don't want to put something on a food and make it taste like fire, Sriracha is hot to the point of not being overpowering and it definitely enhances the flavor of most foods.
