Awesome. The Redskins colors are "Burgundy and Gold" not red and yellow.

You would think in a uni snob thread through difference would be noted seeing how snobbish we are supposed to be.

So I could get away with saying LSU's colors are magenta and sunflower? Because magenta is a purple color?

Actually, I don't quite understand why LSU or the Redskins call it gold. It's pretty much yellow. You can label it what you want, but I mean really. If what the Redskins or LSU uses is "Gold" then what would you call what the Saints or Vanderbilt/Purdue uses?

The steelers are another team that people refer to as gold but it's clearly yellow. The 49ers are another example of gold seeing as how the team is named after people that panned for gold.

Yep, in fact we already had a very similar argument in this thread. I think it was GIGGAS and Dayman arguing over whether maroon (Virginia Tech's primary color) was closer to purple or red.

Yeah, that gets me to especially since all thre of Pittsburghs professional sports teams are black and gold, but the Penguins are the only one that wears actual (Vegas) gold. The Steelers and Pirates 'gold' are actually yellow. This past Christmas my mom was going to buy me a Pitt hoody and I said I wanted gold meaning the current color but she ended up getting me and old school 'yellow' hoodie which is labeled as "gold" on the team store website while the merchandise with the current gold color is labeled as "Vegas".

To your point I agree. They have long gone away from "Gold" in their unifroms. Which is clearly highlighted by the 80th aniversary uniforms they will be wearing this year. In 1932 the colors avialable were not as rich as they are now. So they have gone to the yellow morso for TV reasons I would suppose. Or it could be tied the fact they went more yellow than gold in the 70's and that change stuck. But the Burgundy has always been there.



This is the NFL 75th anniversary throwback to their original unforms. It is those original unis where "Burgundy and Gold" originate.



And while the team has gone away from it. "The first ladies of football" have not.

By the definition of the color gold, the Redskins and Steelers (also Nashville Predators, Iowa Hawkeyes, LSU, Lakers, etc.) wear gold. The 49ers also wear gold, but it's metallic gold. So, going by the actual definition, N51_Rob is right.

Also, gold is a shade of yellow, so technically all of them are wearing yellow.

I believe just random. It's off his twitter, he said it needed more black.
