How many songs is 80GB? That might be a little too much for me. Even when I recently uploaded all my CDs to iTunes (a paltry 3,800 songs) I couldn't help but immediately realize that I didn't want to hear about half of those. Sure, I liked the Cranberries for a few months in 5th grade, but now. . .not so much. 80GB sounds overwhelming (though I do wish I had more than 4).

My iTunes library is stacked in comparison to what is on my iPhone and iPod... I just use those in my car or when I'm out running..

Re: Do You Own an Ipod?

Yes, I own an iPod. 4 GB, Nano. Holds about 725 songs.

I've had 3 MP3 players in my life, now. First was a SanDisk 1GB I got back in 2005. Lasted a while, needed an upgrade so I got a Creative Zen 8 GB in 2007. My friend decided to juggle it for no reason, missed the catch, it hit like 3 different surfaces. It was still showing so I figured it was okay. Later that day or the next day I found out it was frozen, and dead. He never did pay me back for that... Finally got another MP3 in 2008, this time my current iPod. It's done me well, but I prefered the Creative Zen one. Bigger, not as "clean" and polished as the iPod but better overall, in my opinion.

I'll need to upgrade at some point. Not a high priority, though.

8 GB Nano that is mainly used at the gym. When I traveled for work I used it a lot in airports and during flights but now it's pretty much only used at the gym.

I'd guess 80GB to be somewhere around 25,000 songs but it depends on the bitrate. I had a lot of music on my mp3 player ripped in 320k and it took up too much space. Luckily I found a free bitrate converter online and lowered most tracks to either 120k or 96k, which sounds the same to me. It saved a ton of space and I still have room for more music. I'm surprised how many mp3 snobs there are that demand their music to be in 320k when a much lower rate sounds just fine to me.

For those who own Ipods(I have a 160 gb), how in the world do you install Movies on it? Is going thru Itunes the only way I can add movies onto it or are there "other ways"(translation for free)I can go about it? If anybody could help a brother out and send me a PM, I will appoint you as my #3 man in my Death of Twitter Movement.

I used to do this for someone. I think the program was called Videora or something, it was pretty easy. I believe it was freeware.

But I've let my iPod rot over the past few years so maybe theres newer programs/methods out.

It depends on the quality. I have 13,341 songs and that's about 60gb with the rest of the space taken up by podcasts. I haven't added my whole music collection because I don't have enough space with my current iPod.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

I'm not an audiophile but there is a huge difference in sound with better quality rips, especially if you have good headphones and/or a good sound system in your house or car.

That's what everyone tells me, but I can't tell the difference. I have a pair of Sennheiser HD 595s with a headphone amplifyer and the 120k songs sound just as good as 320k. Maybe I lack some sort of hearing sensitivity, in which case ignorance is bliss
