Hit the salt yesterday for memorial day and had a amazing day in the kayak.

    25 - Reds with 2 bulls over 30"
    15 - Specks
    2 - black drum around 40lbs each
    1 - flounder
    1 - eel
    2 dozen crabs
    30lbs of shrimp

Needless to say it was a insane day. All caught from 6am to noon, not bad for 6 hours of fishing!!!

Damn........that is a lot. Where did you find room on your kayak to store all of that ?

I have got smart over the years of kayak fishing. Learn to adapt for when you catch either a lot or a big fish. So now I carry a large ice chest in my truck and a small one on the kayak. Once I fill the small one, I make my way to the truck transfer all fish to 120 quart ice chest in truck then head back out again. So for example the red below was caught during a different trip, but that red obviously would not fit in the on board ice chest so I made run to the truck and threw it in the big ice chest, which is why I'm standing on the land.

Now we also had 4 guys with us. So all that was not mine personally, that would be illegal lol. That was what our crew yesterday brought in.

        5 Redfish per person
        1 black drum
        2 dozen crabs

Above was my portion taken home. Granted that was still a lot. I'm on the cuff of running out of room at home. I have at least 200lbs of fish betwen my two freezers and my deep freezer is filled to the top with just fillets of fish.

I need to jump in the BBQ thread and do some pictures of some Redfish throats on the pit. The filet mignon of fish.

I hate looking into this thread and seeing these fish. Especially while I'm working. Makes me miss the river so much.

Here is Big Bertha from my trip about 3 weeks ago..

Are you on a constant vacation ?

Also, does Louisiana require a fishing license ?

Over 100 Sac-a-lait caught about a month ago. I have a 3rd pic somewhere in this phone with the rest but I can't find it.

lol I wish, the salt is only about 2 hours from my house and we go two to 3 times a month. Fresh I can hit 15 min from my house and limit out on bass every day. Now my kayak stays in my truck a lot so I can just pull off and hit the water any time.

Some people chose to have certain hobbies I guess like Gaming. I choose to fish every single moment I can.

Yea its $10 for fresh, $10 for salt. Last till 6/30 every year then you gotta renew. Coming up now that you brought that up.

Gf has some family in Louisiana. I thought about visiting with her and this thread makes me want to fish. I never think about it here. My dad bought me and my sister lifetime fishing and hunting licenses back when they were cheap in the 90s.

We actually just got another small fishing boat. I never wanted to take the tracker out by mself because of the hassle, but this will make it easier on me.

Wow you have a lot of frozen fish lol

How long does it last in the freezer? I thought fish was like 6 months or something...seems like it'd take forever for you to use that before it isn't as good.

I have around 200lbs worth of different types of fish from bass, sac-a-lait, redfish, speckled trout, shark, flounder, and the standard catfish.

I vacuum pack my fish which holds for about a year. As long as air does not hit it to get freezer burnt I'm sure it would last even longer. Now me and the lady we eat a ton of fish (I guess you can imagine lol). At least two times a week. So I'm in constant rotation of older being eating and restocked with newer.

For instance my take this weekend was around 20lbs of fillets and two dozen crabs.

Yesterday I boiled the crabs, then took two redfish fillets, some green onion, spices, and butter then diced them together to make a seafood paste. I then baked 4 potatoes, took them out, split them and removed nice cavity, then took seafood paste and stuffed bake potatoe. Lastly baked them another 15 to give good crust with cheese and sour cream on top with side of about half dozen boiled crabs. Talk about gooooooood!
