When your team is elimated from the playoffs, who do you root for?

Do you root for the team that eliminated you, because it justifies your team losing to the eventual champs?

Do you have a secondary team that you like and root for them?

Or do you not care who wins, as long as the team that eliminates you gets knocked out as well, thus rooting for any team to beat them?

That's actually a complicated question with an answer that is dependent on who's left. I don't necessarily root for someone to beat the team that beat my team unless that team is already somone I hate. With that, I'll usually pull for a secondary team that I like so since the Pens were eliminated last night, I'll probably root for the Sharks since I have always liked them. And of course I'll root for someone to beat any remaining teams who I hate so I'll be rooting for whoever the Red Wings and Flyers play next round. Otherwise, if there are no teams left that I particularly like or dislike, I am more or less indifferent to who wins it all.

In baseball, I root for anyone playing the Yankee's

In basketball, I root for anyone playing the Lakers (and now the Heat, I guess).

In football, I typically root for anyone playing against the Steelers/Raiders

I typically have no different feelings for the team that beat my team, unless they are listed above. Typically, I root for my teams and then under dogs or teams that have gone forever without winning or just teams that I like because they seem to do things the way I like to see it done.

I get pleasure from watching teams with huge advantages lose to those other teams. It's weird to, because even though I have nothing at stake as far as fan-ism goes, I sometimes get very involved in rooting against those teams regardless of who they are playing.

As an example, I have no dogs in the NBA playoffs. But I can take any series and automatically pick a team to root for and I'll watch almost every game and root pretty fanatically for those teams. I have no thoughts what so ever on the Grizzlies or Spurs, but g-d last night, I was rooting hard for the Griz..

I usually just root for the underdogs or certain players I like and hope for a good game/series.

I usually root either for a team that i like a few of the players for, or a team that's playing a team I hate.

In the NFL, if the Cowboys are done I root for the Packers. If they're both done, then I root for good football.

In college football, I root for Virginia, and when they invariably fail, I root for good football.

I usually root for a secondary team or a team that has captured my imagination by being a really good story. That's it in general, with the huge difference being the NHL playoffs where i'll root for any Canadian team but once there are none then I just watch the rest of the playoffs casually.
