Re: Anyone have a good burger recipe?

    Build this burger.

    You need:
    3 oz ground chuck
    3 oz ground brisket
    3 oz ground sirloin
    Minced onion
    Worcestershire sauce
    Cheddar cheese (cube or shredded)

    1. Evenly mix three ounces of each meat type into a ball. Throw in minced onion and Worcestershire sauce.
    2. Create a hole in the middle of the burger and stuff cheddar cheese in the center.
    3. Grill on each side for 3 to 4 minutes.
    4. Let sit for 5 minutes.

Yesss. Mixing meat is always good. Also I forgot to mention about putting butter on the meat as it helps the sauces and juices stick. At least that is what I have heard.

Ya'll are making modified meatball sandwiches instead of burgers haha... eggs and breadcrumbs...

I'm anti-amendments to burger meat -- good beef is what a burger is about, all that binder and filler is just distracting from the beef taste and changes the consistency. Adding all that stuff in almost always results in over-mixing and over-handling also, which toughens the burger.

There are like 6 awesome burger recipes embedded within that post, including some for for the famous Jucy Lucy cheese-stuffed burger, perfect White Mana-style sliders, and The Spotted Pig's amazing burger. But the main recipe is how I make burgers 90% of the time. Just ridiculously good and perfect for burger purists like myself.

I find soy sauce very good when mixing meat. Also I have a thing about putting syrup in sausage, hamburgers and bacon.

Yeah, you want to avoid egg and bread crumbs. That's not a burger.

I have actually made a Jucy Lucy on a few occasions. It's a delicious burger, especially for cheese lovers.

I used to have a few pictures of one that I made for myself, but I can't seem to find them. It was about a 2/3 lb burger... lol... Just imagine a patty an inch thick (no exaggeration) with oozing, melty cheese in the middle. Just amazing. I've always wanted to saute some onions and throw them in with the cheese too... MMMMMMMMM.

                Pan>Grill

The juices of the patty fall through the rack of the grill, but stays in the pan.

                  Coca-Cola Burger

3 fluid ounces Coca Cola, divided

                  1/2 cup bread crumbs

                  1 pound ground beef

In a medium bowl, mix together the egg yolk, half of the Coca-Cola, bread crumbs. Crumble in the ground beef, and mix well. Form into 4 balls and pat into 3/4 inch patties. Pour the remaining cola and crumbs into a small bowl, and mix well. Grill or fry the burgers for about 3 minutes per side. Brush with the cola, then cook for another 3-4 minutes each side, basting occasionally. Serve with burger buns and cheese slices.

Ah-mazing. Had them at a tailgate during the 2009 football season. I was like WTF? Coke burgers? But they're outstanding.

Hell yeah! Grilling is so overrated as a technique, you may as well shoot some liquid smoke on something and actually cook it right indoors in a pan haha. Don't get me wrong, I love a well-cooked piece of grilled meat as much as the next guy, but in terms of making the BEST piece of meat at any given time, the pan is the way to go.

Outdoor grills are for smoking as far as I'm concerned ha -- low 'n slow is their function, cooking meat properly in under 3 hours is not. A steak is WAY better with a proper steakhouse pan sear + super-broiler + oven finish method than it can ever be on a grill... just no comparison. There's a reason the best steakhouses don't grill their steaks (unless they use it for "marking" them)...

Paella on a grill pretty much rocks my socks off though, makes that dish way better to be cooked over open flame.

Re: Anyone have a good burger recipe?

I grew up on grilled meat. Steak, shrimp, hot dogs, brats, chicken, pork chops, and beef. We always put turkey or ribs in the smoker though.

Gotta say though, the Foreman makes a great burger.

Sorry for the bump, but now that it is officially grilling season, what would you guys recommend? Putting like BBQ sauce(and other sauces) on AFTER or while it cooks? And if so with the cooking, just maybe a minute before it comes off or pretty early in the cooking process?

I know up in Minnesota they put the Cheese inside the ground beef before it cooks. After it cooks it gets real hot and juicy. They call it the "Juicy Lucy".
