Re: Anyone have a good burger recipe?
Summer returns, lets open the burger thread.
This is what I have been doing and ive been enjoying it. I get 2 large ready made burgers from Wegmans meat dept. Not sure what their deal is, but they are not your average burger. I season it with salt, pepper, ground red chille pepper, and garlic powder. Before im ready to cook I bring the meat to room temp, and heat the grill to 400. I cook them slower, 2 turns, then after it cooks for a while I toast the kaiser rolls.
My wife like bbq sauce so Ill throw some of that on the top of her burger, then ill add cheese, cheddar, 1 large piece of cheddar and a slice of jalapeño pepper cheddar and let it sit for a few. Ill put some mayo on the kaiser roll, a peice of lettuce and a tomato, throw on the burger, and top with ketchup or BBQ sauce.
Ive been enjoying them, my buddy gave me some of the stuff and I sort of edited to my liking. Really enjoying these Burgers.Comment

Re: Anyone have a good burger recipe?
I made some Cajun burgers for tailgating last fall that were considered a big hit. Mine were 1/2 ground beef and 1/2 Elk Burger
This burger has a great spicy kick, perfect for that your next day outside.
Ingredients:
3 Tbsp. Dried Oregano
1 Tbsp. Paprika
1 Tbsp. Garlic Powder
3 Tbsp. Ground Cumin
1 tsp. Cayenne Pepper
2 tsp. Salt
1 lb. Ground Beef
1 tsp. Salt
1/4 Cup Onion, finely chopped
1/2 tsp. Dried Thyme
1 Garlic Clove, minced
1/2 to 1 tsp. Hot Pepper Sauce
1/4 tsp. Dried Basil
1 tsp. Cajun Seasoning Blend
4 Hamburger Buns
Sautéed Onions (optional)
Directions:
Combine the oregano, paprika, garlic, cumin, cayenne pepper, and salt into a small bowl.
Combine the beef, salt, onion, thyme, garlic clove, hot sauce, basil, and 1 tsp. of the Cajun seasoning from the other bowl. Shape into four patties, and cook in a skillet or on a grill over medium hot heat for 4 to 5 minutes per side.
Serve on buns, with sautéed onions.
Remember that any burger tastes better with cheese, you’re always welcome to add your favorite American, Cheddar, Monterey Jack, or Swiss to any burger if desired.Chicago Bears

Re: Anyone have a good burger recipe?
Coca-Cola Burger
3 fluid ounces Coca Cola, divided
1/2 cup bread crumbs
1 pound ground beef
In a medium bowl, mix together the egg yolk, half of the Coca-Cola, bread crumbs. Crumble in the ground beef, and mix well. Form into 4 balls and pat into 3/4 inch patties. Pour the remaining cola and crumbs into a small bowl, and mix well. Grill or fry the burgers for about 3 minutes per side. Brush with the cola, then cook for another 3-4 minutes each side, basting occasionally. Serve with burger buns and cheese slices.
Ah-mazing. Had them at a tailgate during the 2009 football season. I was like WTF? Coke burgers? But they're outstanding.Comment

Re: Anyone have a good burger recipe?
I thought this thread already existed, but I couldn't find it. I usually just buy the pre-shaped patties and throw seasoning on them. Last night I used Season All and Cayenne Pepper. They were alright, spicy, but not very flavorful if that makes any sense.
This summer I am gonna expand my cooking skills. I definitely want them to taste better, so I will start getting ground beef and mix in the seasoning with it so the flavor doesn't just drip off on the grill.
I prefer 100% Grass feed beef from Uruguay. They sell it at Sprouts and other health stores.
Make the patties yourself.
All you need is solar sea salt, pepper, onions, a few hot peppers of choice and cheese if you like.
I would recommend using an Iron skillet. Temp set to high, sear the flavors for a few minutes, then flip once, and bring temp down to med. Should take about 5-10 minutes depending on how big you make them.
then get a steel skillet put it on medium with buns from whole foods or central market. mix a little butter and flip after about 30 seconds.
You could also use a bbq blend seasoning that will work just as well.
The key is don't flatten then burgers, and let the meat rest a few minutes before you serve them.
I prefer 90-10 or 85-15 beef. it helps with the flavors and makes for a juicy burger.
No need to mix in the seasonings, you could even add them after the burger is cooked if you have a more picky eater to serve.
enjoy.Comment
