Wow just wow is all I can say about some of those pictures.

I have no problems with living in a known Hurricane area, for the minor ones you get plenty of time to stock up and prepare and it's just a matter of sitting there for a couple hours. For the major ones you do the same or leave for a few days just incase.

They were able to pull 17 people alive from the rubble yesterday, despite severe thunderstorms most of the day. A police officer was struck by lightning during the rescue effort. It could get worse today. There is a moderate risk of tornadoes again, and no place to seek shelter for people working down there.

I really, REALLY hope this is not true:

        http://www.nytimes.com/2011/05/25/us...o.html?_r=1&hp

The Times is quoting a Maryland Heights search and rescue leader for that number.

Missing does not = dead, obviously, but we're a few days after the twister now and if there are that many people still unaccounted for/lost/buried under rubble, things aren't looking good.

"Unaccounted for" in this case seems to be quite a broad term.

Joplin is about to go through a rough hour. I can't believe this is happening to that town right now.

Pictures from the inside of the hospital that was hit. It's amazing that more people didn't die there.

I believe it's because Obama is attending, and there are some people in the their realm of Christianity who believe that natural disasters are God's judgement for sin in the area. I.E. Hurricane Katrina was because of there being a large amount of homosexuality at that time or something in New Orleans. Believe me, as a Christian, we aren't all crazy. Most of us are level-headed people.

Anyways, it looks like I'm going down to help next Thursday. I'm excited to help people so close to home.
