Re: Random meme / funny stuff thread
under no circumstance should a pizza delivery boy make more than a college graduate during any given shift. No matter how many pizzas he delivers. Now I am not saying $10 is good, it should be slightly more than that. He didn't makd the pizzas. I would understand tipping the pizza chefs a decent dime for slaving over 85 pizzas to all be ready and fresh for that order, but no one thinks to tip them. Why is that?
I have friends who serve at restaurants who will come home with $500 cash just for the weekend, 2 days of work, and yet we have servers everywhere crying over not getting tipped enough constantly, it's always being talked about by them. I am sorry anyone can be a server, they don't deserve the amount of money they end up getting. /EndRant
BTW I do tip wel at restaurants for good service, but I don't feel inclined to tip well when i get the waitress who stands in the corner texting all night....Comment

Everyobe can be anything if they wanted to be. Good servers absolutely deserve every cent they get, and often more.
I haven't even worked in the food industry and I know that. Just because they aren't a college graduate (even though they could be for all you know) doesn't mean they don't deserve money, cmon man.badComment

Re: Random meme / funny stuff thread
absolutely they can. But do people think to tip the guy at best buy who goes over every aspect of a tv or computer for 20 minutes with then? No, he gets his flat rate of something like $10 an hour. He can do the best job he can and still only make that $10 an hour. So good food service can make big money in this country but other similar occupations get their flat rate and o one even thinks of tipping them, it is simply a broken system.Comment

Waaaaaaay back when I worked food service that delivered if there was an order like that there would be a gratuity added and it would be shared amongst the entire kitchen staff. Delivery drivers really had it made though, least amount of work, highest pay.Member of The OS Baseball Rocket Scientists AssociationComment

And as far as not being fair to the Best Buy employee, quit your job and become a server. The beauty of capitalism.Comment

Re: Random meme / funny stuff thread
I delivered pizza for 3 years. Not sure what college has anything to do with that, but anyway.. I got paid minimum wage and tips. Some people think delivering pizzas is some kind of cake job. There were A LOT of times where we did just as much as the kitchen workers and had to deliver the pizzas. Sometimes you have multiple orders. I have taken 5-6 orders at one time. you gotta try to get them there on time. Timing is huge for tips. If you get there past the quoted time, people get pissed big time.
You also are carrying money all the time. Yes we did drops, but you are always a potential target. You never know who's waiting at the door for you. I personally never got robbed, but 2 guys that I worked with did. A driver was even killed over a $12 order at another pizza shop.
But in the end I admit its not the hardest job, and could be very fun at times. But you always had to be careful.Comment

Re: Random meme / funny stuff thread
When I was still in the military at Camp Pendleton, my buddy (who was a rank above me, as an e-4) could make more in a weekend delivering pizzas for the Domino's on base than he made for 2 weeks pay in the military. That certain restaurant was crazy busy (45-1h wait times on the phone just to order pizzas normally) and has been rumored to be the highest grossing one of the chain (but I've never been able to verify that.)
That doesn't mean it's a broken system. Anyone who works in the food service industry has my respect - I wouldn't want to deal with people all day that pay you no mind over half the time when you are doing something for them.badComment

I wasnt robbed either. But there was a guy that had gotten robbed a couple times before. And there was a driver that was shot in the next pizza "district" over.
Just like you said, there were times where I had to deliver 5 or 6 orders at a time. So I would have a ton of cash on me. I would get real nervous at some places that were really far out or in some odd area that we'd never deliver to. I especially hated going to places that were secluded with no street lights and they wouldn't have their porch light on. So the only light Id have is the headlights on my car.
I would pray SO hard before going up to those doors. LolComment
