I didn't feel it in Chicago's southern suburbs, but it does remind me of an earthquake I felt a few years ago.

I was crashing at a friend's house and it was like 4 AM, we were playing NCAA football and it created a 10 minute discussion on whether or not the futon I was sitting on had a massage function.

      Hope everyone is alright.

Felt it here in Northern Delaware (around 200 miles from the epicenter). Was watching Hall Pass with my fiance', noticed a spray bottle shaking that's sitting on a dresser on top of a mini chest of seashells. Thought earthquake, then thought ghost... lol.

Hit up Weather.com and the local news site but nothing, then went to Facebook and sure enough, a billion statuses on there about the earthquake. Verizon phone lines were all jammed up.

Pretty crazy stuff. Been through a tornado (very minor though), the strongest lightning I've ever seen, and now an earthquake in the past week or two. Next up on my natural disaster list: hurricane. Though by the time it reaches here it'll probably just be a tropical storm or just a good amount of rain. Well, hope so... gotta check up on that. ****! Hurricane gonna be at Category 2-3.

        Nature, why you so angry?

It really, REALLY infuriates me that people in LA/Southern California are making fun of the East Coasters. Go ahead and laugh, it's not like you flip out and whine like spoiled pansies when there are three rain drops on windshield or you bust out the fireplace and sweater anytime it dips below 70 degrees.

LA people make me laugh. Remember how they freaked out over a freeway being closed down for a weekend? Yet they laugh at people on the East Coast for getting freaked out over something most people have never experienced. Doesn't surprise me though, they live in their own world over there, and have glass windows.

Not gonna lie, scared the **** outta me.

What did I do? I played it cool on the first tremor. Meh, must be a chopper or low flying plane, big *** truck, whatever.

Second tremor about 10 seconds later, literally swayed the entire building, I was looking out the window and saw it bow in and out and said to myself, OH ****. This is an earthquake or Megatron.

Decided the best thing to do, get under my desk and like He-man, pushed my back against the bottom of the desk, to keep the entire BUILDING from crushing me. Yes, I actually thought I was going to support the ENTIRE roof caving in on me, by pushing up on my desk with my back. Genius!

                Thank you.

I can laugh about it now, but the news stories of me under a desk, brushing the dust off my shoulders would have made me tear up a little.

So I guess mild earthquakes are kind of a big deal on the East Coast.

When the largest Earthquake to hit here was over 120 years ago, then yup.

It's funny to me that Hurricane Irene has taken a seat on the back burner while all this earthquake talk goes on because Irene is gonna **** something up fierce between DC and Boston most likely.

                      Hopefully will be prepare accordingly.

That's what is more irritating than anything to me. A hurricane's headed up this way, yet people and news outlets are less concerned with an incoming disaster and more concerned with a minor earth quake. As rare as it is, there are more pressing issues now.

Had a concussion on Saturday so when the first tremor hit while i was at work I thought I was going into some kind of relapse. Then the 2nd one shook my 12 story building for a good 20 secs while I was on the phone. I walked out of my office and everyone was like "WTF". After that everyone got out of the building and I jumped in cab heading home.

                            Quake at 1:55.

On the news tonight it was said Irene could very well hit Rhode Island. It's been far too long since the last one. I thought we were in the clear but it isn't look that way.

Don't know about anywhere else but I know in DC, whenever Irene hits here, won't be any different from what we usually get or wouldn't be nothing that haven't seen before.

A little wind and rain? We get that at least a few times a year.

A 5.9 Earthquake though? That's something we don't see too often so I can understand why that's getting more talk than the Hurricane right now. It'll probably be that way tomorrow also and then they'll probably switch over to Hurricane Talk either Thursday or definitely Friday.
