In the movie, Leonardo's character suggests to his crew to try "inception" which is planting an idea in a person's sub conscience within a dream. They had already tried to get information out of a person's sub conscience by 'dream-sharing' or whatever they call their method. So the title of the movie is referring to planting an idea, rather than having a dream within a dream.
A recent example of what actually sort of bothers me:
In a group message, I share a picture of Johnny Cueto on the SF Giants wearing a hat of himself wearing the same hat which also has johnny cueto wearing the same hat on it....Some one comments "inception." It could very well be that this person just meant "like in the movie inception" and I could be bothered by absolutely nothing. This probably says a lot more about me than the people who use the word like that
