    Couple Ideas

    1) "Can lighting" in ceiling with light control

    2) Sports memorabilia on walls

    3) Bar type "lighted" signs

    4) Frame Posters of some type

    5) Framed Jerseys on wall

    6) Wainscoting bottom half of wall to give detail and walls don't look at plain.

Google Man Caves and go through the images to get ideas. Ton of cool stuff. I really like this idea that looks like inside locker room!

    This is badass also!

Well, the buyers backed out five days before we close escrow. Apparently the contingent offer was extended without our knowledge. The lender was waiting on the written appraisal from the appraiser, which was completed two weeks ago. For some unknown reason, the appraiser delayed it.

The buyers didn't give us any reason and were allowed to back out. Needless to say, I took off all week to pack and move... Simply ridiculous...

          Man that's terrible

Word of advice its to always stay on top of those people always. Takes an appraisal a week to get done...call them and make sure they know you're waiting....

Its a little pain to be on people but everything is so sensitive with time there isn't much room for errors in the process

You are absolutely right. However, I thought my real agent would/should be more on top of it.

We are moving as planned anyway and will show the house when it's vacant. We were showing the house by appointment only so this should get more people to see it. After this whole ordeal, hopefully it works out better for us in the long run.

Sucks that this happened...I was calling my agent all the time making sure things were moving along, the seller was stalling a bit at times with repairs...

Hopefully your house will go quick on the market with more people getting to see it.

Re: For all of you guys who are homeowners or newly owned

Stupid thing, but I turned the temp up on our water heater, and hadn't done that before. It was pretty hot, but we like the shower to be able to be a bit hotter, so just upped it a tiny bit and got the effect we wanted. Was very simple overall.

Anyone have any input on garage shelves? I've looked online a bit, and years ago my dad built some basement shelves (freestanding) that were decent...We just have a lot of space in the garage that we want to store stuff in, so some shelving would help.

I'm pretty willing to build something, just need to find somewhere that has some good plans/guidance. I'm not really at the point where I'll just do it without instructions, need a bit more experience there. I've got a great corded drill, drill bits, etc. I can borrow a mitre saw if I need, though ideally I'd just have Home Depot or Lowes cut the wood to my need.

Re: For all of you guys who are homeowners or newly owned

Here's a pic of the new house I just closed on a couple weeks ago (along with a dorky picture of me bringing in the first box):

We've been looking for a house for almost a year and found one that had pretty much everything we wanted. We are still unpacking so there aren't many of our own pictures to post. But here's a few of the realtor shots of the house when it was on the market. My wife loves the way the previous owners had decorated the house, so she is setting ours up similarly.

The backyard. I'm bummed it is winter and I've got to wait 6 months or so before I can jump in the pool:

The living room. I hung my Plasma in the same place as this pic shows. Man that sucker was heavy!!! Had to buy a scaffold to go between two ladders to stand on to hang that thing.

I've got a fun project to do with the house because I have my own game room. Right now all I have in the room is my TV and game consoles, and the couch that was delivered yesterday. I'm getting my dad's old pool table at Thanksgiving which will go in the room. Here's a pic from my phone of the room yesterday after the couch (which reclines) was delivered. The little doors go to the walk-in attic, so I'll have storage space. Not sure how I'm going to decorate the walls yet. It'll be a challenge because of the low vaulted ceilings. Off on the left side where you see the office chair is where my computer is. There's a nice little alcove there for my desk.

lol, thanks. Yeah I do have a 13-year old riding mower because my previous house had a large back yard. Problem is the engine started giving me troubles a month or so ago. Hopefully it is fixable come spring time, otherwise I'll have to get a new one. Jumping in that pool after cutting the grass in the Alabama heat will be sweet!

Congrats! Looks like an amazing house.

I hear you on the pool. Even in AZ the water's a bit chilly so we haven't been able to swim, going to be awesome in the summer though.
