I would tip 20-25% like I do now. It's not proportionate to income.I'm a Vince McMahon Guy!

Re: How much would you tip if you were a millionaire?
Yes - for nothing.
I'm poor - I go to a restaurant and get a $10.00 meal. The cook makes it. The server brings it. I eat it. I leave a $2.00 tip.
I'm rich - I go to a restaurant and get a $10.00 meal. The cook makes it. The server brings it. I eat it. I leave a $2.00 tip.
Just because I'm rich doesn't mean I owe the server any more. I ordered a meal and from start to finish it's the same regardless of the number I have in my bank account. The server did no more or no less work - they provided the same service as they do everyone else.
It's not like they did anything special to earn more money from me.Comment

Re: How much would you tip if you were a millionaire?
I tip pretty generously already since I work at a restaurant and know what it's like, so I probably wouldn't change much. Now, if the server really took care of me, and was friendly, you better believe I'll be leaving a 100% tip at least.
It's bad enough that servers only make $2/hr as is, but what a lot of people don't realize is that they sometimes wind up PAYING to serve you if you don't tip them more than their tip-out is. This is rare, but I've seen it happen several times.Fan of....

A lot of people take workers in the service industry for granted, in my opinion. I would definitely tip more if I had more money. As long as the person was nice, they would get 30-40%.

Re: How much would you tip if you were a millionaire?
I'm on both sides on this. I could never do it because I have bad short term memory and I know it's hard. The other side I don't feel bad if they only make $70 in tips for a slow 8 hour shift because it comes out to $8.75 an hour. If someone had millions in the bank I just don't get why they couldn't spare an extra $3 and make the tip $5 on a $10 tab.Comment

If there is one lesson to learn. Don't **** with someone who makes your food. That's part of the reason to tip well.
As for the question I would tip $100.

I have always been generous with tipping. Grew up in the restaurant and food service business. So maybe that is part of it.Ⓥ Boston Red Sox | Miami DolphinsComment

Never understood that at all. Oh, and trust that we all remember people who don't tip and your service will probably be pretty ****ty next time you come in and people remember you.Comment

Re: How much would you tip if you were a millionaire?
The same as I do now. No more no less.
Edit:
Changed my mind. It would be a bit bigger but nothing outrageous.Last edited by Skyboxer; 10-16-2011, 02:06 PM.Joshua:

Re: How much would you tip if you were a millionaire?
I'd definintely tip more.
I wouldn't be ridiculous about it, though.
$10 million is a lot of money (not as much as it used to be though), but I've always thought that if I were ever that rich, I wouldn't squander my wealth because I'd want the money to stay in my family. I'd want my future grandchildren to get an inheritance or have their college paid for.
Like I said, I'd probably up the tip to 30-40 percent for good service... But I wouldn't just throw money down because I had it.Comment

Re: How much would you tip if you were a millionaire?
That's what I meant, though. I tip 15 to 20 percent now. If I were rich, I'd probably up it from anywhere to 30-50 percent. If I had a $10 tab, I would probably leave $5, or maybe $10 if the service was outstanding.Comment
