Went to White Castle one day and order some burgers and onion rings. When I got my order they gave me my burgers and chicken rings. I tried to give the chicken rings back and the employee told me keep them and gave me my onion rings too. That was pretty cool.

Re: Question for Fast Food Experts
Kinda off topic but I had a former friend that used to call up random places she wanted to eat at and tell them they messed up her order even though she never ordered there in the first place. They would take her name and when she came in they would just give her whatever "order"they messed up.
I worked at conveniant store and we always gave away the wrong food. No need to just waste it.Because I live in van down by the river...Comment

Re: Question for Fast Food Experts
That's not the protocol at all fast food restaurants. Usually at McDonalds they just beat the hell out of you until you learn to just take what they give you, whether it be a McChicken or McAsskickin.[NYK|DAL|VT]

Re: Question for Fast Food Experts
They have to toss the food since they can'T be responsible for what the customer did with the food while they had it.
Example, crazy costumer buy big mac, puts cyanide in it like a lunatic, returns and says this is the wrong order, remake it. Boom whoever ate the returned sandwich has problems.
Extreme example, but you cant trust what happened to that food, so it has to be tossed out. It was probably protocol even though the lady was right in the store with you. Fast food joints probably stress to managers strongly against anyone eating returned food ever.
Same reason why you can't return underwear/opened underwear. Can'! trust what happened to the product when it went out.Comment

Re: Question for Fast Food Experts
Understood. In this particular situation, the food never left the counter or was touched (besides the wrapper). The lady literally opened it up right there after it being put in the bag and saw it was missing cheese. That and the 10+ min. wait had her wanting a refund after letting the manager hear an earful.Comment

Re: Question for Fast Food Experts
Actually was about to say the same thing.
As the husband of a health inspector, it is against health code (a severe violation, in fact) in the Commonwealth of Virginia to serve any food that has already been served to another person/customer. It must be disposed of.Overall satisfaction also makes the decline!!!!!!!!!!!!Comment

And as soon as the wrapper was opened, it's got to get tossed. The customer may not have clean hands, etc. If it's opened, and the person that opened it isn't wearing gloves (at least up here, where gloves are required), it gets thrown away.Understood. Re: Question for Fast Food Experts
I worked at Petsmart for a while - and talk about waste.
Food close to expiring, food with a hole in the bag, food being switched out for a new kind, toys that got opened or damage, etc, etc all got destroyed and thrown in the dumpster for pick up.
Almost all the stuff could have been given to local shelters and what have you.
I know that's not fast-food related, but it's a similar story.Comment

Funny thing is, most shelters wouldn't take the close to expiring or opened stuff.I worked at Petsmart for a while - and talk about waste.

Re: Question for Fast Food Experts
I work at a fast-food type place and we've got to throw away any mistakes. Sometimes, if I make something wrong, I'll re-make and it but still offer the mistake to the customer since I'm going to throw it out anyway.
I was making a drink for someone and I accidentally made a mocha instead of a hot chocolate, so I made the hot chocolate and also explained what the mistake was and offered it to the customer, who accepted it. Another time I was supposed to make a 6-inch sub and accidentally made a 12-inch, so I just explained to the customer why they got the extra food and gave it to them.
We're supposed to waste it all in an effort to keep someone from purposefully ordering the wrong thing or from using an "in" with an employee to get extra food.
We throw away about 30 donuts each night. They go straight to the trash and no employee or customer is allowed to have them without paying for them.Originally posted by DaImmaculateONeHow many brothers does Sub-zero running around in his clothing? No one can seem to kill the right one.Comment
